^ Very interesting set. I don't think I've ever seen a GO train done up in graffiti like that. Looks like something out of Greece or Italy.

Some Halifax pictures.

This is a difficult to photograph area with some nice old houses and some new developments. The sandstone building on the left was Alexander Keith's house, and behind the photographer is another old mansion and then Government House is next door. This area was pretty run down even 10 years ago.

View north along Robie Street. Soviet spies were supposedly arrested in the building in the foreground during the Cold War era.

Joseph Howe area and Northwest Arm. The boxy building with the red logo is CBC. The glass office building was Maritime Life, now Manulife.

I took a few quick photos of the Hudson Place 2 development tonight. Victoria's second tallest building. It's nearing completion.

I haven't posted one of these in a while, so... here goes. A few highlights of my entire spring, from snow to green leaves. Set to... hmm... Maluma is probably who I listen to most year-round, but especially this spring

Video Link

We had probably one of the easiest winters of my life overall. Quite mild, very little snow. But it did linger, of course. This was one of the last dumps in March.

It quickly melted.

One of my fave books this spring was this one:

She's practically a poet. A couple of my faves:

“Every now and again the voices of people passing by outside catapult odd words into the room, severed from sense, small bubbles of sound released into the silence.”

“She is filled by an old, familiar urge, like water gushing into a dry streambed.”

Then it started to warm up.

I had a bit too much fun painting my fave international/local drag queens lol

Russia - one of a handful of Slavic rump countries whose entire identity is denying its neighbours have ever existed or have the right to exist - decided to invade Ukraine, a separate entity since the days of Kievan Rus.

I did a lot of laundry...

Finally decided to brave adding a Monstera to my growing houseplant family...

We ate outside with one of our traditional mussel/lobster boils on Mother's Day. (An aside, I definitely am trash at a genetic level. My parents love lobster tails, which is the part you're supposed to like... I can't stand it. It's like chewing flavourless rubber. I love the ginger, green paste, cream in the body. And the little legs are like a dessert, so sweet, you chew on them to push the meat out. And the big claws and, especially, the knuckles, are my absolute fave. There's no finer seafood - except the tuna taco at Adelaide Oyster House, that's a therapeutic experience.)

And downtown started getting all dolled up for spring.

It got cold again.

It warmed up and we enjoyed a great hike from Portugal Cove to Bauline.

And the May long weekend was exceptionally gorgeous - uncomfortably hot in my backyard for pizza while the downhill neighbour serenaded us.

Past few days it's been sunny and cold.

That's it, b'y. Bring on summer!

It took me 10 years of living in Vancouver before recently visiting the Vancouver Lookout revolving restaurant on top of Harbour Centre. it's the last remaining publicly accessible revolving restaurant in the city with an amazing view.

Elevators to the top run on the side of the 28-floor office tower below the observation deck.

The restaurant offers a very nice (and expensive) Sunday buffet.

View facing east extends over Gastown neighborhood with two Burnaby skylines in the horizon.

Sun Tower was the tallest building in Canada upon completion in 1912.

Victory Square is a small patch of green.

Beautiful Dominion Building stands next to the square.

Woodward's Building is the only high-rise building in Gastown.

BC Place stadium

New office buildings next to the stadium.

View towards Yaletown.

Downtown towers make the view towards southwest.

Tallest buildings of Downtown in the middle.

The Stack will be the tallest office tower in town.

Marine Building was once the tallest building in British Imperium.

Coal Harbour rises in the west.

The small air control tower on top of Granville Square tower is the tallest control tower in the world.

I feel bad not visiting the observation deck before, as the view is certainly worth seeing at least once. Also the restaurant was definitely worth the price, especially the Sunday buffet.

Having lived all my life in Vancouver I have to say I have never eaten in that restaurant. Glad to hear the the food is good, revolving restaurants often have the reputation of relying on the view rather than the food. I wonder if the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel still operate theirs?

PS great photos as always.

I have also been avoiding the place thinking it is a tourist trap, but the Sunday buffet table is worth the price and the beautiful view adds to the experience.

Unfortunately, Vancouver has lost two of the three revolving restaurants it used to have and the Harbourfront Hotel restaurant is only open for special events, I read. Such a shame and for example Cloud 9 was a great restaurant before demolition.

Few weeks ago a nice weather provided for a fun walk around Downtown Vancouver.

Cruise season is finally back after a two-year hiatus.

It was surprisingly quiet on the Seawall.

Sun was out in English Bay.

Vancouver's latest "attraction" is a runaway barge that washed on shore back in November and got stuck there.

City is currently paying a hefty sum for 24/7 security to keep people and vandals away.

Attempts to pull the barge failed and now the plan is to demolish the barge on the spot.

Nice summer weather in Yaletown.

It's a long walk around Downtown, but in a great weather definitely worth the effort.
