My town is finished

Here's the update on my town. It's called ShanesVille, and I will try to eventually put it somewhere between Detroit and Monroe. It started out as just a couple of blocks or so that I was going to fit into Detroit, but I've exapanded into its own town. This is about my 3rd or 4th version so far. I've just been taking my time working on it. It would have been a little bigger, but I started running out of memory. Here's an aerial to give you the idea of the whole town, along with some examples of models that I've laid down in it. It's a small, but dense town, and it looks like it could be at least the downtown area of a small city of about 10,000. It's got a little bit of everything like a newspaper, phone comany, bank, hotel, clinic, vet, department store, theatre, library, a small community college, k-12 school, daycare, senior complex, church, park, a couple of small squares, a small grocer, gas station, diner, bar, fast food joints, donut shop, dollar store, music store, sports shop, computer store, appliance & furniture, barber, salon, and so forth. It even has a salvation army. The housing stock is mixed with apartments, rows, flats, and single family homes.

Very nice buildings... but I think you need to lose the single-loaded streets to make it more realistic. (Make bigger city blocks with more buildings per block, with buildings facing out along all sides of the block)

Love the zombie.

Thanks. Actually some of those "streets" are alleys. I would have made the lots bigger and the streets longer, but I was running out of memory. That's why I cut the town down from what I was originally going to make it.

I placed red lines to point out the alleys. Notice how they are inbetween the backs of the buildings, and only half the width of the streets.

This alley dead ends at the school field. This set up is very similar to the school I attended in Detroit.

Very nice detail on those buildings. To bad you didn't have enough memory to build a bigger city.

Similar thing that happened with me and Antopia. I had an outstanding 4 or 5 blocks...best 4-5 blocks I ever made. Unfortunately, it was impossible to continue, as my computer just couldn't handle it.

Very impressive. Every aspect looks realistic as something you'd see in an inner city town. Great job.

So detailed. It looks awesome! Turn off the profiles please! It looks way better with profiles off. Profile's are the big fat black lines around edges.

Anyways it looks great. Must be slow though.

Did you make the people yourself? I love the zombie.

I downloaded the people from the google sketchup site. Just click into the box that says "get model" Then type in either "man photo" or "woman photo" in the search bar, or type in "zombie". And thanks.

A few of my signs, ads, and posters.

Yes, that'a cop car next to the Donut shop. The police station itself is next door.
