Comp: Skyscraper Complex,voting!

no votin for oneself:)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aleks0o01

Warning: 30 Google Sketchup Pictures

Oceania Plaza:

My entry includes 3 towers and 2 small buildings. The complex includes retail, residences, a hotel, office, restaurants, and parks/plazas. The tallest tower is a mix between condos and offices, the second tallest tower; a building "completed" in 1920; is a mix of luxury residential and office, the third tallest is a hotel/condo building and the smallest one is a luxury mall.

The list goes from shortest to tallest:

Pacific Plaza Mall:
Floors: 4 (3 bottom are retail and restaurant, top floor is a club spa)
Height: 65 feet
Use: Mall/spa

Grand Hyatt:
Floors: 30 (14 floors hotel, 12 residential, 4 mix of service, ball room, and lobby)
Height: 420
Use: Hotel, Residential
Facts: On the 17th floor the hotel has an opening with an outdoor pool and indoor pool for condo owners which look out to the West Pacific Ocean.

Western Tower:
Floors: 47 (26 Office, 17 Residential, 1 Observation, 2 lobby/service, 1 empty)
Height: 621 feet
Use: Office, Residential
Facts: The Western Tower was finished in 1920 an opened in June, 4th, 1920. When it first opened it was the 4th tallest building in the world and the tallest outside New York City. The design came from the Seattle Smith Tower which was opened in 1914; the architect was born in Seattle and fell in love with the Smith Tower so he based the Western Tower on the Smith Tower's design. Bought in 2005 (due to large amount of vacancy) by the Ritz-Carlton Company, it was decided to restore the old building to it's original beauty and turned into condominiums. The plan did not work out due to people who protested so that the tower would not become a hotel. Today the tower is a mix of office and some of the most luxurious condominiums on the Western Hemisphere.

A small building was constructed in 2005 by the Ritz-Carlton to provide a private entrance for Residence owners and for pools and an indoor garden:

West Point Tower:
Floors: 85 (46 Office, 31 Residential, 2 skygarden/private spa, 3 service/lobby/retail, 1 trading, 1 disco, a ballroom)
Height: 1,195 feet
Use: Office, Residential, Club, Spa, Retail, Disco.
Facts: The tallest of the towers in the complex it stands out like a sharp, glass splinter in the middle of the Ocean. The tower was completed in 2005 and has some of the highest residences in Latin-America. The 3rd before last floor contain a penthouse which occupies the whole floor. This tower has the highest spa and pool in the Western Hemisphere. A new company called "1" added 31 floors of Residences to West Point Tower and has 2-5 bedroom condo's including a 10 room penthouse.

Spa/Skygarden:

If you waited for all this to load and read Thank You. If you didn't thank you anyways.....I'm out:notacrook:

Convention Center Plaza

Here's my entry. It is located in Dallas TX,in the parking lot of the Dallas convention center.obviously, the parking lot would be moved to a new location.

Anyway,heres what I got

Here is a basic overview, showing the complex basic structure and 2 main plazas.

Plaza 2 Has access to tower 4 trough a indoor/outdoor hallway. It also has access to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit(DART) station, which is the domed structure. The elevated grass area can be used for benches as a calm, relaxing area, for reading, walking your dog,bla bla bla.

Here is an overview of the complexes main building,or tower 1,A commercial office building.

Here is a view from the other plaza, which has access to The main tower, tower 3,and the performing arts center, which is mainly visible in this picture. the roof of the center can be rented out by restaurants and retail.

The above is a picture of tower 4,which is used for a hotel and retail.

Her is a pic of the main tower by itself

looking up the main tower and tower 3

and finally,an Diagram styled shot

thank you for looking. I will get in more pictures soon

Good luck to all,And happy SSP'Ing!

Portland Banks

It's in Portland, Oregon
across the river from downtown

FlyersFan118:
Aurora Boardwalk Hotel and Casino

I decided to do something I didn't think anyone else would. A main sticking point with me was making sure that all of the buildings in the complex corresponded with each other, rather than having a couple of buildings that seemed unrelated to each other more or less. So, here it is (get ready for picture hell: I think there's almost 30 pictures here):

Atlantic City, NJ

Aurora is located on the Atlantic City Boardwalk between Connecticut Ave and Massachusetts Ave:

Now for some individuals:

This is Tower Four in the complex. It stands at 15 stories (including the casino) and rises to 214'.

Tower Three is 24 stories and 330' including the casino.

This is Tower One, which is 26 stories and 372' including the casino.

This is Tower Two, which is 24 stories and 333' including the casino.

This is the parking garage, which has five levels and is 52' tall.

And finally, this is the observation tower, which stands and 1,158' and towers over the rest of Atlantic City, affording some of the best views around.

Verticalextrophy:

This is "Puertas del Plata" which means Gates of the River Plate, it is located on land reclamed in the early 1900s as part of the port but largely unsused saved for the Yatch Club Argentino.

The two towers serve as Buenos Aires World Commerce Center and rise to 250m without the still unbuilt spire. The Bridge is a hotel and is supported by two counterweights hanging buildings.

The other buildings are an unfinished cruiseship terminal + tax free mall, and yet another hotel.

Nice idea Verticalextrophy! I have a pair of buildings like that too! With the bride in the middle and 2 counterweight towers on the side! You'll see them in my new city. But I didn't enter them in the competition. Also, where are you from (I'm guessing Argentina, but I mean where do you live)?

Really u did that bldg? It's quiet nice that the bridge is at least 6 full stories tall and divided in 4 modules, so it's huge and you can leave the ground level as an open park.

I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina, I live just 15 walking mins to the site of my complex. (I'm photoshopping it)

"the bride in the middle" lol, menage a trois

Heres my review's. Please dont get mad, I mean I'm sure you guys would love to see more than "nice!"

Oceania Plaza
The only reason I didnt vote for the Oceania Plaza, is the Western Tower, its not much of an inpseration, more like a flat out copy of the Smith Tower, the only thing different is the arched windows atop, which look nice but look like they have no purpose. The Other towers are great, especially the tallest one, all sleek modern and new. I just dont like the name "1 Residential"? Maybe something like One Oceania Plaza, or 1Oceania. Anyways the planning and effort is great

Convention Center Plaza
Most complexes have simular buildings. I just am not feeling this one, Too many towers, many of them just bleh. The only one I really like is the main tower

Portland Banks
I like this one, very very sleek modern, and never before seen. Nothing bad to say really, I would have voted for this one.

Aurora Boardwalk Hotel and Casino
I really like the realism in this one, sure its not very flashy as the others, but I can defantly see it in Atlantic City. The design isnt overboard or anything and overall the layout is great.

Gates of the River Plates
Ahh dont need to say anything else, this is defantly my favorite

I didnt vote for Oceania for the same reason. Convention Center Plaza got my vote for both the main tower and the Pei one.
(which BTW I never meant that gov building but a sleek scraper).
PAtr5ick: thanks!
I took this picture from my new Sikorsky on inauguration day:
