Does anyone know what address Extell is filing things under with the DOB?

I would get excited for renderings but this is Extell we're talking about. We probably won't know what this will actually look like until its out of the ground.

I assume that the massing model is basically what will be built. We just don’t know what the facade will look like.

With KPF, it could be a facade similar to that of 1 Vanderbilt or 343 Madison. It’ll be a wide, bulky tower, so it needs a design element to go along with the glass.

Extell previously flirted with this…

And this on 8th Avenue…

This building is good overall, but one BIG problem. This will block the Empire State Building entirely when viewing from the top of the Rockefeller Center.

I'm surprised the top of that building is still open. It's not really that tall anymore by NYC standards. Its days for viewing the city are probably numbered.

You know, I don't think it will.

Please forgive my Paint-skills.

It won’t block the view of the ESB, but I had questions of if it would block the view of 520 5th, since they will be so close. And you know, it may. But it’s New York City, views change all the time, (and in the case of 520, even before they get built).

Tall doesn't mean much. 1WTC has the tallest observation deck and I think it's by far the least impressive (everything looks tiny).

Rockefeller Center is in the "middle of it all" which makes it really attractive, even if there are taller buildings adjacent to it.

Top of the Rock will remain the best view, of all the observation decks. Height doesn’t necassarily equate best view.

I think a problem with 1WTC's observation deck is that it's an interior observation deck. Frankly if the twins were still around I'd consider their observation decks the best.

The WTC deck is nice, for an overall view of the metro area. What it doesn't really give is a great view of the skyline, which is harder to do since it's further away from midtown where the greatest concentration of the skyscrapers are.

Someone tell Barnett he can make double the money if he stacks the office and residential proposals atop each other and makes this 1600 feet.

We'll let him sort out the small details like air rights & such. That's what he's paid for.

Taller building, 1060 ft
Office building 860 ft

They are really pushing for office, but could also do the other tower.

Some rough screenshots…
