I was in Abbotsford recently and was shocked that this US retailer was going there...but this is another chain I'd like to see show up.

That's a bit of a generalization that's not warranted, IMHO, but you certainly have a right to your opinion.

I share that same opinion. There is still so much "oh that will never work here, we don't have the population" I love when we get products/stores the same time as the Canadian larger centers. It says a ton for the economic growth center of the Maritimes.

Meh... I only ever seem to hear (read) it on this board. Most Maritimers I talk to out in the real world wonder why we always seem to get the same chain stores here and can see a market that would be open to new and better choices. This gives me the impression that the business community doesn't have any confidence in the population whereas the consumers are looking for new and better places to spend their money.

Sorry, but I'm just tired of hearing the implication that Maritimers are negative and short-sighted. From my travels in Canada I have the opinion that I hear more of that attitude in other places, but I would prefer to keep it to myself, as I don't feel that stereotyping is fair to anybody.

Just my two cents on the matter, nothing more nothing less. I have no need to comment further on the topic.

I've heard many rumors as of what is going to go in the old RONA site but no one has committed to the space currently. There are still a few RONA employees clearing out the space there currently so we may see a development soon.
