They still have to get CC approval. But I don't think the CC will weigh the opinions of other high-rises dwellers as much as they do for the single family homeowners east and south of the river.
That article is not referencing the latest elevations that were released in March for the height and floor count. The height and floor count in the thread title is the latest.
For the love of God, I just hope they keep it as is and doesn't go through any other changes. I'm always skeptical when I see something that looks great, only for it to either change, shrink or get canceled entirely. And we've seen that happen already on quite a few of the better projects.

To everyone else's point -- it's interesting to see the newest evolution of the Austin style guide. Rounded edges and irregular geometry, brown-not-blue, lots of greenery, no more unbroken walls of glass; lots of horizontal texture. It's a pretty major break with the 20-teens design approach.
I haven't had a chance to look at the Design Commission deck -- is the design house the same one doing the Perennial, or Springdale Green, or the Whole Foods extension next door?
