Starting in 2015, dogs are only allowed on the pathways in surrounding the Cancer Pathway's Memorial going through Maggie Daley. Thank all of the irresponsible dog owners out there for that determination. The dog ban also applies to Millennium Park.

I think since the lawns get a lot of use there is an ick factor for a lot of people if they see a dog using the lawn to do their business. It becomes easier to outlaw them all together.

Can it be topped out if they are still pouring concrete in the core formwork?

It's interesting that they had a topping off ceremony this week, because by my count no part of the building has topped out. The core is currently up to floor 54 with the top of the core currently at about 754' and the steel is currently up to the 49th floor at 665.5'. I believe we are still going to see 62.5' of growth before it reaches it's final height and two more floors of core.

They also jumped the crane before the topping out ceremony indicating this still has room to go.

Yes, looks like there are a couple more weeks to go before the core is “done” and a few more weeks for steel.
But, in my/our experience, it’s not that uncommon to have a topping out party early. There are a lot of VIP people that need to attend (i.e. the people who paid for this building) who have full schedules that don’t always have a common free day to coordinate attendance. Plus, it’s also a ceremony for the people who built this, and good Owners and GC’s like to make sure that the full workforce is here to attend. If you wait until the core or steel is done-done, then you’ve already had a number of tradesmen finish their scope and leave the project.

Still another few weeks before topping out.

“Bank of America Tower, a 55-story building under construction along the Chicago River at 110 N. Wacker Drive, is scheduled to reach its full height later this month, developers Howard Hughes Corp. and Riverside Investment & Development said.”

Oh hey everyone, been a while. Been shooting projects ike crazy before the onset of fall/winter and haven't posted lately. Anyway....

A few weeks back I toured these site to capture some photos for the development team. Even summited 150 to get some shots 'looking down' onto 110.

Long climb to the top of the core...

Keep an eye on the WPE & Vista threads...

Thanks everyone! Been a crazy end of summer for me. Lots of shooting, not a lot of posting.

It looks like the core concrete pump has been removed. Core could be officially topped out.

For a while, I thought that this looked fat, but it’s actually turning out beautifully.

Chicago has built a lot of boxes lately, but they’re incredibly elegant.

Agreed. Humans won't always build like this, hopefully the river canyon is regarded as elegant as the south michigan wall in 2119

Pump boon is down - forms are off the E side of the core.
