Not real excited about this one. Too wide, looks out of place, will block alot of views. I’d be pissed if I lived behind this.

I suppose it's more economical to construct shorter fat buildings rather than tall slender ones? I can't think of any other reason for the stout appearance.

I like this building too. Build it!

Sorry, if you buy a home or a condo next to a parking lot in the city and then are mad that it’s going to be developed and your view blocked…. I don’t feel bad for you.

I agree the "losing a view" argument is silly, especially if someone buys next to a parking lot, obviously something will be built one day.

However, this is a hulking building, if the height were doubled and width halved, it would look much better (IMO).

But I still say build it.

That too, likely not all mechanical. Perhaps a section is mechanical, and the architect thought better to create a uniform (huge) crown?

I share the design concerns that have been mentioned—the blank gray crown, the bland western facade, and the overall bulk and width. I think it is possible, however, that the fact that the tower is on an angle might slightly open views of the bridge from some angles.

Two things interest me particularly in regard to the construction: (1) What historical artifacts will be discovered from the excavation? Will they be saved and catalogued? I have a shard of pottery from when archeologists dug the site a few years ago. (2) How will the builders deal with the high water table and soft soil? This used to be open river, and the site was not entirely filled in with soil (and oyster shells, etc.?) until around the year 1800. I seem to remember reading that when archeologists first dug here in the 1980s, they hit water at 15 feet in depth, and had to use pumps to continue.

Looks like this one is going to get started soon. Passed by it on my way to work today and saw a new fence being installed on the perimeter and construction equipment in the parking lot.

I wish that this was cut in half and doubled in height too, but honestly the view-blocking argument is kinda dumb to me. It'll block skyline views from...Dave and Busters?? and then maybe block a partial part of the BFB view from like 30 people.

people are saying it should be thinner and much taller but Im pretty sure there are limits to height here based on the overlay for this area near the river.
