It is indeed going up today, and its base is turned at a funny angle (maybe 15-30 degrees?). I've never seen that before, not sure what the purpose of that is.

In other somewhat boring news, they're apparently testing something in the Falcons stadium, because it's all lit up and flashing at the moment

Cristo Rey School construction on the corner of Portman and Piedmont downtown. They are building parking topped by a gymnasium.

Downtown Hilton Renovations. They are adding event space above what was formerly open air tennis courts. This is why Portman has been closed between Courtland and Piedmont for the past month.

Thank you.
I went by there at night recently and was trying to figure out what was under construction.

They've been testing the ribbon boards all around the seating bowl.

Are there any other details? Clearly it is mixed use w/ground floor retail, parking podium, and topped with what appears to be residential or possibly hotel units.
Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting today that this project is by Lennar Multifamily. I believe this is the same group that is behind the 195 13th Street project in Midtown.

It will be about ~20 stories with ~300 apartment units. However, plans have not been finalized.

Speaking of 195 13th Street, any word on movement for this project?

Proposal for a residential tower behind the W hotel on Peachtree.

Pretty cool appearance, but looks like it met some static from the DRC.

So the issue is the building is too tall? How is that a problem on Peachtree?

I guess there's a height limit on that parcel. Seems ridiculous to me but people seem to support height limits in commercial areas for some reason.

That's not a rendering of the actual building, just a placeholder image of a building in Houston. It's 2929 Weslayan:

Yeah I was wondering if that was really the rendering....didn't even look like Atlanta in the background.

Sounds to me like they are just floating a proposal, and testing the water to see how much pushback they'd get.

Do police typically run sirens and block traffic to wave through a truck carrying a crane? Pretty sure I was just waved thorough a redlight for a huge black crane going south on Spring at 10th street, although I couldn't see exactly if it was a crane base from the distance.

Makes me wonder how site prep is going for CODA and the standard

Yes, they often escort oversize loads. I've seen that in town before.

Very ridiculous. Wouldn't the building be surrounded by skyscrapers?

Hoping the 50 Allen Plaza rumor is true! That was one of my favorite proposals for the city last decade, and would make a great addition to the skyline.

It's between Atlanta and Dallas for the AIG consolidation and most reports have Atlanta as the favorite. They're looking for 650k or so square feet of space....that's more than enough to ignite an new office tower....one that can stand at least 700 feet tall...probably even more.
