Will it play in Peoria?

Sorry for the old time question to lure you to this short tour of downtown Peoria, Illinois.

Peoria is the largest city located on the Illinois River. It has a population of about 115,000 and a metro of 374,000. The Caterpillar company has its headquarters here, and the city has strong ties to agricultural industries as well.
The weather was rather cool, but at least I didn't run into rain.
Now for a short set of pics:

Looks like the town has a nice waterfront, and judging by the newer buildings and the pretty good shape of the older buildings, I assume the economy there is doing all right as well. I particularly enjoyed the impressive bridge and the new museum. Oh, and the Commerce Bank is splendid. Thanks for the tour!

These photos are a blast from the past for me. Went to Bradley University, and I've only passed through once since I graduated in 2001. Looks pretty much the same. Not my favorite place in the world, but I have lots of great memories of that time in my life.

It reminds me of Winnipeg, which isn't really positive for my personal preferences... but excellent showcase and photos.

Nice tour, Ex-Ithacan. Oddly enough, I just spent a large amount of this afternoon and evening with one of my best friends here in Pittsburgh who's hometown is just outside of Peoria. And, just like nearly everyone else from Peoria, he works for Caterpillar!

Thanks for the replies. I wish I'd done some neighborhood exploration, but time didn't permit.

@ moby - I believe he was from Peoria.

Been through Peoria a couple of times. Illinois' second best skyline by a mile.

Nice job!! I couldn't agree more with you. Time is always my worst enemy..especially when I have to cover 2-3 cities in a day's time!!

I always did feel that Peoria was Illinois' 'Second City.' Thanks for this tour.

Nice photos of a decent city! It would be a little small for me and I would probably be trying to go to Chicago all the time or St. Louis but I guess it would be nice for the average person who may not be into major metropolitan cities.

caterpillar is really a monumental linchpin in the central illinois (and parts of chicagoland) economy. hell, it pulls hundreds of contractors like me from st. louis and indy as well.

peoria has to be the smallest "metropolitan-y" feeling city i've ever been to, instead of a large town-y feel. if that makes sense. full sized planes take off from there, for instance.
