Oh my gosh, the ladies ahead of these two in line: "Could I taste this? And this? And this? And this? And this? I'm thinking 'DAYAM, are you gonna taste all of them?? That'll equal at least one whole scoop.'

I got a scoop each of ube malted crunch, pandan tres leches, and coconut & tamarind caramel.

Photos taken Sunday, 2.12.2023 and a few taken Monday, 2.13.2023.

We thought we'd go to a botanical gardens to avoid Super Bowl Sunday. This particular botanical gardens is well-known around here for its camellias that bloom during the winter.

I find taking pictures of flowers relaxing, so, please bear with me. I actually took a ton of photos of flowers, these are only a fraction. They have a variety of different kinds of camellias here.

Lunchtime.

Some of our repeat favorites.

Sangría and olives.

Albóndigas.

Queso y fruta.

Pan con tomate.

Vermouth.

After all that food and drink, we felt like we needed a pick-me-up. I thought of coffee, but then I thought of coffee with booze in it so... we ended up going to one of our go-to pubs. And as it turns out, we ended up watching part of the Super Bowl.

My car, just outside.

Cloudy mountaintop, looking out the door...

My partner had a Belgian beer, while I had this Irish coffee with no whipped cream (at my request).

No me interesa.

We hung out at the pub for a while... then we decided it was dinnertime.

So...

I got chicken tenders.

Rihanna.

And I got a cider.

Today (Monday, 2.13.2023).

Dinner. This particular restaurant has Mai Tai Mondays.

We sat by the window fronting the main thoroughfare, which I like, because maybe oddly, I find watching heavy traffic kind of relaxing, like watching a stream or river or something. The ebb and flow of traffic.

I got a salmon burger and fruit.

Yes! And the hills are green again all over California it seems; I just got back from a road trip to the central coast, and the hills are really green and pretty, like they're covered in matcha!

A rainy Friday/Saturday (2.24-25.23)...

I assume these are Illinois fleet plates, therefore possibly a rental car?

The cold rainy weather made for a good night for caldo de 7 mares.

Sunday, 2.26.23. A bit of respite from the rain. Kinda cold, but still nice for a brunch al fresco.

Sometimes I can be a creature of habit. Smoked salmon toast.

Then a few hours walk while it wasn't raining.

We just did appetizers for dinner. The pickled eggs with pickled peppers on a bed of goldfish crackers was an interesting presentation. It actually made for good beer/cider food.

FRIDAY. The work week is DONE. 3.3.2023.

My partner and I went out to dinner. We were in the mood for Chinese food.

Fried anchovies and peanuts.

Pickled vegetables.

Hainan chicken.

We both had rough a time at our respective places of work... and I thought that those fried anchovies and peanuts would've made for good beer food. So I said "Let's go to the pub." So off to our go-to pub we went!

They already had the green/St Patrick's Day thing goin'.

I had a Belgian red. It's usually served in a goblet, but our guy puts it in a pint glass.

My partner and I bitched about work...

And then I had a nice dry cider. Mmmm, mmm.

And then we laughed about coworkers, and then I just randomly started taking pictures.

What is it with TV newscasters, having haircuts from 10-15 years ago?

Now see, that's just one of those things that tell the rest of us how you all there in Los Angeles live lives that are significantly different from those we're living out here where they rarely if ever film anything.

You should check it out, it's pretty cool. During the pandemic, they were not open to casual visitors, only to people with appointments, specifically for dharma classes or meditation. But they recently reopened for visitors again.

We were there some years ago for a Lunar New Year festival. It was pretty fun.

It's funny, because sometimes you'll see filming going on at the most random or nondescript places. Some weeks ago, they were filming near my work, in a very ugly vacant office building. I took pictures of it on my lunch break, and was gonna post them here, but decided not to... but since you mentioned it, I thought I'd post a few of them now.

Random photos taken over this weekend (3.18-19.2022). It's been so drizzly/rainy lately here in SoCal that I haven't really been able to walk around too much and take lots of pictures. So, just a blurb of my usual kind of stuff.

Looks like God's blessing America from Tennessee. That circle with the stars in it is on their state flag, and Franklin is a town near Nashville.
