I think it will be going up later this week or this weekend.

Been working from home all week, have not been able to take gander around downtown. But it looks like the crane is not up yet as I don't see it in the Camelback weather cam or City of Phoenix cams.

My sources tell me the crane will be up before April 30th.

I'm very surprised it hasn't gone up sooner. The lot is small and they have very limited space to move equipment around. I'm dying to see this crane go up as it will be Downtown's first ever luffing tower crane to my knowledge.

I know they still haven’t put up the crane yet but does anyone know if construction is at least going on?

I drove by it a few days ago, construction is still going on. They were just doing alot of in ground stuff still. They're going up soon though. No crane just yet though. I'll try and snap some pics once I get off work later!

The crane not going up yet is still a mystery. I was first told it would be up the first week of April, and then by the end of April and now I am being told by the end of May. I guess someone can't get the schedule right.

I did see a mobile crane in the Camelback Visibility Webcam this morning in the general area of Derby this morning, but the crane has since disappeared. I was hoping it was for the tower crane assembly, but guess not.

A couple of notes:

Derby has had some minor employment related delays, things are pushed back a small bit but still moving. You will get your crane, just be patient.

The bike shop will be moving in June, partially related to Derby's construction. There will be two years of alley and street restrictions, lots of noise and construction traffic and just will be a generally unpleasant location. The landlord is pushing for a rent increase citing recent growth in the neighborhood and is specifically focusing on the fact Derby will be "a boon for business".

This building has been a thorn in so many people's side in the neighborhood.

Are you referring to the Velo? Do you know the new location? I bought a bike there in January and need to follow-up for my free first tune-up.

Unfortunate that Velo is moving. I must say that it always surprised me they were able to stay in business. Love having that type of business I just don't see how it's profitable, but good for them if they can make money doing something they love!

The best way to have a million dollars as a bike shop owner is to start with two million.

The shop is profitable but the rent at that location is not forgiving for a business of that type.

7th Street? I’ll miss having them downtown within walking distance of my office, but at least that’s a location along my commute.

yes, 7th street. I'm concerned about the location. Rush hour and the reversible lanes will make getting there during the afternoon quite difficult. It's also not a fun location to access by bicycle unless you're coming out of Coronado from the east.

Will the cafe go along with Velo or will it just be the bike shop?

This landlord sounds like an asshat. That's how you drive out small businesses from your city. :/ nothing as awful as rent increases.

A rent increase in The event of increased costs for the landlord is easily justifiable. But this is a triple net lease which means the tenant pays all their expenses including property tax. Not much reason for a rent increase in that instance outside of greed.

Apologies if they're giant or tiny. This is the first time I'm attempting to post a photo on this forum.

This is the only action I saw at Derby. It's slow, but they're making progress. That crane will be up soon.
