as far as I can tell, this is a 14 storey building as approved and under construction, so it would add 3 storeys.
The adjacent building is indeed 16 storeys, but it's an old building with shorter floor to ceiling heights. This one at the approved 14 storey height was likely a similar height, so the 17 storeys would make this the tallest building in the area. Not like I have any problem with that.
What is interesting here is how late they are applying for the increase - a crane is due here any day with excavation largely complete. The additional units are going to need more parking, which likely means an extra level of underground parking.. So LJM if they are going to continue construction here will have to take a risk by building that extra level in advance of getting approval for the height increase. That, or the site will go on hold for a year or two until it can be worked out.
