That's a real place (not part of project rendering) that has been there for a while. But yeah, I keep waiting for it to close - just like I do for every new 2nd St. District store that opens.

I mean, they are doing well enough to have paid for a pretty famous artists outdoor instillation. Which will I guess have to move since this building will cover it up.

This is for 8103 South Congress. It's replacing a self storage facility.

Rapidly changing South Austin gets more luxury apartments

This is the site plan for another project at 8200 South Congress right next to it.

They just built their HQ which has performing and creative space. Was this an earlier rendition or is an additional project?

It's old if its 2011, likely won't happen.

That's next to St Vincent de Paul's. Lake flato just designed a new building that just completed construction there.

A nice mid-rise in the area kinda "extends" the skyline a bit imo. Adds another crane too lol

I assume they mean 1155 not 115? If so, that property has been turning dirt for a while now.

But it's SENIOR living? LOL what in the world?

Old people need urban places to live, too. There's nothing more inconvenient for a senior than the suburbs are rural living. They might not be able to drive anymore so public transportation and being surrounded by goods and services is ideal.

Agreed on all points. I see nothing wrong with senior living at this location.

Also agreed. Many more benefits for them. If they're walking around and active still, they're only going to help with local stores, restaurants, etc., as well.

I think it's a smart move. They're going after a market that hasn't really been explored all that much so far, and I also think it'll make the Nimbys blink.

The original Huston project (One Two East) was a huge senior project. But those NIMBYs went after it. And it was planned as an "affordable" senior living project. The City Council also stopped caring about affordable apartments and senior living close to downtown in regards to that project.
