The Caesars logo looks great! The Superdome roof looks absolutely DIRTY once again. It’s been years since the roof received a NEW paint job (I think around 2013). I know they settled the lawsuit over the company that painted it last & guaranteed NO mold & mildew for years. The roof has been pressure washed a few times since the last paint job, but the last pressure washing didn’t get the roof as white as it should’ve been. Do you think the roof will get a NEW paint job before Caesars brands it? I would hope so! The roof looks filthy!

it is true that they pressure washed it less than a year ago and its looked dirty for months already.. there must be a better solution to it.

This New Orleans military academy is expanding its Federal City campus

The on-again, off-again redevelopment of Federal City could soon get a get a shot in the arm from one of its core constituencies: the military.

The New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy is planning to expand its campus at Federal City to include a new building for 8th graders, a technical education center and a new athletic facility, among other improvements.

Coupled with the impending completion of Delgado Community College's new technology center, NOMMA's plans to greatly increase its footprint at has brightened the fortunes of the 146-acre project.

Big changes coming to Audubon Aquarium in New Orleans

https://www.nola.com/entertainment_l...56a67f059.html

At age 31, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is up for a makeover.

The Audubon Nature Institute says it plans to close the aquarium’s Entergy Giant Screen Theater, move the building’s main entrance downriver, add 2,500 square feet by enclosing a breezeway along the front of the building and convert 17,000 square feet of interior space to exhibits and classroom use. Contractors also will upgrade mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, audiovisual and security systems.

Details are still being worked out. Audubon said the New Orleans architecture firm Eskew Dumez Ripple is working with CambridgeSeven, a Masssachusetts architecture firm known for designing public spaces and Cortina Productions, a Virginia firm known for museum design, on the changes

CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AND PARTNERS DEBUT DEMONSTRATION PARKLET

NEW ORLEANS — This past weekend, a locally designed and built parklet was added to the ongoing French Market Place concept demonstration, which closes one block of French Market Place to through-traffic from 7 a.m. Thursday through 7 a.m. Monday on a weekly basis.

The demonstration is an opportunity for the City and community stakeholders to interact with a parklet, which reimagines a section of the on-street parking lane for expanded sidwalk space - including as outdoor seating for restaurants and bars. This demonstration will help the City test design specs and guidance for the creation of an upcoming parklet permit program.

"Under Mayor Cantrell's direction, we have been innovating to remake outdoor public spaces during COVID-19 with our Outdoor Dining programs such as the Parklet Pilot Program, temporary Sidewalk Cafe permits, and others," said Jeffrey Schwartz, Director, Office of Economici Development. "The French Market Place Parklet is a prime example of the value that our public spaces can offer besides parking both during the pandemic and beyond. We appreciate the aprtnership of the French Market, StayLocal, and the Greater New Orleans Foudnation in making this possible, and we look forward to collaborating to activate streetscapes throughout the city as we recover from COVID."

This demonstration was made possible thorugh a partnership with the Urban Conservancy/StayLocal, the French Market Corporation, French Market Palce businesses, and the financial support of the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

"The French Market Corporation is excited to be part of this partnership and the site of this first demonstration project," said Leslie Alley, Interim Executive Director of the French Market Corporation. "As our locals and visitors reutrn to the Market, we want to provide a safe social environment where they can enjoy some of the best food and retail the City has to offer. Our vendors are excited to have additional seating in this historic open-air environment. We invite everyone to come to the Market and give us your feedback on this great new program."

"By designing and building this prototype locally, we're showing that expanding dining into the street can add real value to a business. This is one way that we can give a leg up to New Orleans' hard-hit restaurant and bar owners," said Maryann Miller, Program Manager with StayLocal.

"The COVID-19 pandemic forced dramatic changes in the way businesses were allowed to operate, requiring creative and innovative solutions," said Andy Kopplin, President and CEO, Greater New Orleans Foundation. "We're proud to have partnered with the City, the French Market Corporation, and StayLocal to show the way by giving small, local businesses new opportunities to safely serve their customers in an inviting outdoor setting as part of this exciting parklet demonstration project."

Currently, bars and restaurants citywide can apply for a Pilot Parklet permit for added seating capacity during COVID occupancy restrictions. For more details on current options, visit nola.gov/parklets.

Re: 2930 burgundy

I forgot about this project, very happy to see it’s coming along nicely. Whatever happened to the other big condo/apartment projects Sean Cummings was proposing for that area? With prices and interest rates where they are I can’t imagine the hold up.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New Ochsner Center at Delgado

https://www.dcc.edu/news/ochsner-cen...dbreaking.aspx

This morning, March 31, Delgado Community College celebrated the groundbreaking for its new Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health. Joining Chancellor Steib and President Sullivan for the event were Governor John Bel Edwards, Higher Education Commissioner Kim Hunter Reed, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Delgado Foundation President Lee Giorgio, Ochsner Health CEO Warner Thomas, Ochsner Health Board Chairman Andy Wisdom, and other officials and guests.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, attendance was by invitation only. The entire ceremony was live streamed on the Delgado YouTube channel, as well as recorded by local TV news media who were present. Click here to see the event as captured and reported by WGNO.

The $20 million gift by Ochsner Health is the largest in the history of Delgado Community College. The partnership it represents is transformational for our Charity School of Nursing and Allied Health Division. Centrally located at the City Park Campus in a new state-of-the-art facility, they will be more than ever the choice for students from across the spectrum of the regional population for healthcare education.

I have another statement about the DIRTY Superdome roof. I don’t see how they can avoid NOT completely repainting the roof before Caesars takes over. If they paint over the Mercedes-Benz signage on the roof & paint WHITE over that, it’s definitely going to stand out in a VERY bad way. It will literally look VERY tacky because pressure washing the roof will NOT clean the roof white enough. It would be like touch up painting the walls in my apartment with paint that’s NOT the same match as the walls.
