CFL is back but a shortened off season and mini camp for teams makes sense because NFL did the same thing during their COVID regular season

^ The schedule comes out today so we'll get all the details soon. I'm really hoping there will be fans in the stands for every game... with outdoor stadiums (and one retractable roof in Vancouver) there should be no issue with this.

Well it makes sense given that the NFL was a prime example of how you could play a whole season during COVID so here is hoping the CFL learns from their example as well as other examples from other leagues like MLB, NHL, NBA, etc.

Oh man, I cannot wait!

Too bad there's no preseason this year, it would have been a good way to shake all that rust off.

Crazy that 3 out the Bombers 14 games will be against the ELKS!

BC Lions play their first home game August 19th. I was at their last game in 2019, before Covid.

Fuck yah babyyyyyyyyyy!

Ticats email says fan situation TBD, season ticket holders getting first crack.

We start the season with a GC rematch in WPG, and the home opener is Labour Day against the Argos.

I’m pumped !!

I wonder if there will be any issues with American players not wanting to come up for a shortened season ?

The NFL makes more money on the broadcast rights for a single game than the entire CFL makes in a season. We were never going to be able to play without fans.

I mean yeah but betting favorites will most likely be the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Possibly the last CFL season as we recognize the old CFL before the XFL merger next year as Danny Garcia of Red Bird said she plans to have teams playing in 2022 and CFL will desperately need XFL expansion fee monies to offset the massive losses incurred during covid-19.

Numbers are slightly large and the arm logo is too messy to be legible at that scale but overall I like ‘em.
Would like to see a white version

Love'em. The Stamps should be in red and white as God intended. Red, white and black is for Ottawa.

Why would the CFL get expansion fees from the XFL? They aren't in a position to expand. Or to give the CFL money for that matter.

If they merge its like when nhl teams get a cut of the Seattle and Vegas expansion monies. Current cfl business model is totally broken they cannot continue as is right now with tsn treating them as an afterthought.

The franchises in the XFL are owned and operated by the league itself, though, are they not? There's no one to pay expansion fees. The league's sole sources of revenue are ticket sales and a potential television deal which may-or-may-not materialize now that the USFL is apparently returning.

Its tough to say what the finished product of the merger would look like but the CFL head office TSN and MLSE would not be pushing this hard for it were there not some form of revenue sharing and revenue growth for the CFL clubs. The CFL desperately needs a modern entity to grow its revenue streams be it single game sports betting a video game to attract young fans better relationships with non tsn media partners and better relationships with football Canada esspecially flag football program to again attract more young fans as 80% of amateur football in Canada is flag and the CFL has no app or anything to work with them to attract more fans and grow the game.
