Is that not the theme song for the cartoon from France? A few tv themes have been redone as numbers over the years.

Could be. This I will check.

There's a few solid beers on the list. Muskoka Detour is a great summer beer, if you haven't had it.

You can purchase Muskoka Detour at the liquor store. Pretty good beer, though I do prefer Mad Tom.

EDIT: looking through the price list again. $11.61 for a can of Miller Light. Lmao fuck off. And $26.52 for a bottle of Orval. Compared to $11.73 at Ontario Bier Markt.

OK, so I did a check. Original song was done in France in the 70s when the series was first aired. Sung by a French-Israeli guy named Noam over there. Redone with the exact same lyrics and music by Nathalie Simard over here.

This is actually quite a rare occurrence - that a TV show's theme song is redone for Quebec audiences only.

Note that Goldorak was not a French cartoon. It was part of the first series of Japanese mangas that really caught on like wildfire in francophone Europe. By ricochet they also caught on big time in Quebec.

Some of them were sci-fi themed like Goldorak, Albator, etc., or adventure-themed like Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or. They are fairly unknown in Anglo North America, with the possible exception Battle of the Planets, also known as G-Force.

There were also Japanese mangas aimed at the younger demographic, or the girly-girl demographic: stuff like Mini-Fée, Le Petit Castor, Démétan la petite grenouille, Candy, etc.

20-30 years later you can still buy DVDs of all of these at Costco and other retailers in Quebec.

All without exception retained the theme songs from France and dubbing from France in what was broadcast in Quebec.

Not Japanese of course but one exception was The Flintstones, dubbed into Quebec French and with an original Québécois version of the theme song from the outset:

Those are separate things?

Wait, is one just a beer store? How does this work?

Two restaurants. Mill Street is brewing on premise.

Ugh yeah Bier Markt is overpriced garbage. I can't imagine it being worse than Ontario but the prices you quoted managed! The staff tend to be pretty unknowledgeable about their beer too.

Mill Street is alright, although can no longer be considered a craft brewery.

I was looking forward to trying some popular beers that aren't available here that were being sold at Ontario Bier Markt (Kona Big Wave, Brewdog Punk IPA, Sierra Nevada Pale) but I see none of them made the cut. The complete lack of Belgian Tripels and Quads is also shocking (minus the highly overpriced Trappist beers). Other than that, 90% of the beer list can be purchased at a fraction of the cost at NLC. I can probably buy a half pack of Miller Light for 13.

I've never been blown away by Mill Street beer. Tankhouse and Stock Ale being two that I did like. And their Belgian Tripel (Betelgeuse) is also decent. Other than that, nothing has really gotten me excited.

I've never had anything from Mill Street that I've actively disliked, but they don't experiment or innovate all that much, so it's hard to get particularly excited by them. They make decent, drinkable beer.

But they wear such low cut tops and short skirts!

I don't mind Bier Markt or Mill Street or their locations in Ontario. Good additions to the already plentiful drinking options in Sin Jawns.

I tried the IPA from Black Swan Brewing in Stratford the other day. I think it was the most pleasant IPA I've ever had. Anybody who likes grapefruit would love this one!

Nope - I see Descendants and Block 3 products on offer all over town (Kitchener), but I've never seen anything from Innocente. Not sure why.

When I've had it, it's always been directly from the brewery, which is rather unfortunately located way out on Northfield near the Blackberry campus. I only mention their American Pale Ale because it is also very grapefruity. I enjoy it, but it's not to everyone's taste. I haven't tried too much from Descendants yet, but in general I've been really impressed by Innocente.

I think I passed it once on my way out to Sittler's Bakery. In general, I don't go to Waterloo to shop - I get nose bleeds if I go north of Bridgeport Rd and I need to take along extra oxygen if I'm forced to go to the Boardwalk!

$12.50??? are you serious???

At the LCBO Faxe is $2.00 tax and deposit included for a 500ml can. And Faxe 10% extra strong is $3.50 for the same size can.
