That's a great snap. 6X is going to completely upend the skyline from this view.

Thanks for the pics, they are beautiful!

44E is such a skyline-changer. It might lack the height of 6xG and the uniqueness of the Sail but it's really adding a new peak in the skyline that makes it seem a lot more expansive. It's especially changing views from the SE, where it looks huge. There's a cool bookending effect w/ the Independent.

I’d love to see a shot of the Austonian rim lit orange with an orange full moon behind it but just slightly higher, that way the lit rim completes the circle of the full moon.

And thinking about it, we have these other buildings planned all within 3-4 blocks of 44E:
  • 98 Red River -- 1030'
  • 80 Red River (Ritz?) -- 802'
  • 9092 Rainey -- 750-850'-ish
  • 84 East -- 455'
  • River Street Residences -- 572'
  • The Travis 594'

And that's ignoring the Quincy which is almost done, the other couple buildings much less likely to come to fruition, and the couple crappy hotels under construction (or planned) in the area.

If even 50% of this list gets done as-planned, the Rainey area will become wild, and one of the tallest and densest parts of Austin....

It will definitely be impressive five years from now. 9092 Rainey is more like 650', and Block 90 will eventually be a significant project as well.

How bout those Railyard condos, ladies and gentlemen!

Also, the 5 floor parking garage right behind them, taking up a precious 1/4 block!

One of the things I admit to being puzzled by is why so many parking garages are still standing, and not being redeveloped. Seems like a great opportunity to turn a huge profit on underused land and air rights.

Republic Square, and the state owns that one. It also has the chilling system for a portion on downtown. I bet it’ll be one of the last, if not the last, parking garages to be redeveloped.

Many of the parking garages belong to office buildings built in the 80s. If they were to be redeveloped the workers would have nowhere to park.

I hope garages built in the 80s that aren't utilizing their lot effectively are all taken down and replaced.
