Aside from the excitement of 6XGuad, for me this tower is the most exciting from a design standpoint since Frost Bank. It will most definitely become one of our most iconic skyscrapers and if they plan to light up the entire south facing side will be one of the most iconic lighted buildings in the state.

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking it was just some holiday cheer by the construction company or whatever, but this thing is screaming for iconic lighting. The setbacks on the south side could have this kind of lighting.

Agreed. And honestly in ways we don't completely know yet. I'm still a little amazed that we've only seen a couple of specific views of this during the planning/rendering process. It's gonna look pretty wild in the end, IMO.

Is it me or does it stop curving after the sixth floor or so? I thought renderings showed it fully curved or at an angle.

To me it looks like the outer columns are going up in straight lines but change angle every 5-6 floors or so. It looks like 4th floor from the top it changes angle and then again another 5 floors or so below that. I would assume the glass/curtain wail structure will fill out the rest of the curve. I could be wrong though, there's all sorts of funkiness going on with the structure given this building's whacky shape lol.

It seems like this building is now about 70% done, they've worked really fast once the foundation was set.

I don't think it's even halfway. It doesn't look like 300' compared to the 400' 200 W 2nd, and this tower is practically 600'. Counting the below-grade parking is a different story, but there's a lot of height left. I do think it's been rising impressively fast, though.

It might be close to 70% if you go by floor space or volume. The floors get smaller toward the top. But vertically, yeah, it's maybe getting close to half way.

Yes it is 600', but the higher you go, the smaller it gets. Once you get to the top, it's practically a pole. So the majority of the mass of this building is done.

I counted 18 floors in corvairkeith's photos. According to the elevations, that puts the 18th floor at 227 feet 6 inches, as measured from Cesar Chavez - the lowest point at grade - which is listed as 450 feet. The core rises about another two or three more floors, so it's probably up to 264 to 278 to the core now.

One thing, though, I was looking at the elevations and noticed that the 450 foot grade elevation at the southwest corner isn't quite the lowest grade elevation, and it drops down a bit more than that number. I was looking at one of the older sets of elevations we saw, and it lists that point as 448 feet 7 inches. Measuring from there, you get 595 feet.

Good point there. The tower does slim down quite a bit as it slopes away from the river. This will have 35 floors, so we're about halfway there height-wise.

PS. It was always a rumor when I worked at violet crown, but I so wish the AMLI garage allowed for a drive in theatre to operate on the rooftop....especially now.
