^^^With those views I wonder if they would ever consider turning the windowed exterier offices into apartments and keeping the core space as office. Hotel Possibly? Probaly not possible, plausible, or financialy worth it with the butt loads of money their making on office space. I wonder if its somewhere in the landmark status that is has to remain office and keep it's name sake? Wasnt even thinking about the CTA stop.

That's not even a thought.

Wow, even The Jones looks almost decent from this vantage.

nice shots. Just on a sim city front we could use something very tall as a skyline anchor at the NW corner of the central area

1101 S. Wabash

Very active compared to the last time I was at the site, looked like they were pulling large pieces of timber off the site, possibly old foundation from whatever had been there before the two story parking garage?

30 East, 30 East Balbo:

All glassed up, but there were still workers on the site. I looked at the renderings and the building has a decent way to go on the exterior being that all the concrete is supposed to be covered up by some sort of metal cladding, unless they VE'd that, in which case this is going to be an even worse project in my eyes.

1136 S Wabash:

One of the better buildings going up along Wabash in the south loop, hardly saying anything though, as it's a pretty standard SCB design :/

Was lucky going by today, had about 4 or 5 concrete trucks feeding this site non-stop today. Will suck to see the mural go away though.

800 S. Financial

A bit hard to see due to the quality of the picture, but it's there trust me!

Linea: Almost all glassed up! Looks so tiny for a 30+ story building

They can't leave out the cladding, really. The building wouldn't pass energy code without some robust insulation either outside or inside, including metal spandrel covers on the edges of the floorplate.

Probably the contractor rushed to get all the glass in so that they can heat the inside of the building and start the interior build-out of each unit. The remaining work on the cladding will be slow-walked through the winter or postponed until spring. They can probably do all the remaining insulation and cladding from a hanging platform.

There's a fair amount of equipment (and new fencing) on the McHugh hotel site at Indiana and Cermak, including a good-sized mobile crane.

This project involves relocating the alley, so it may have more site prep than normal.

Maybe. Not sure what kind of utilities run in the alleys here, but if everything is overhead it should go fairly quickly.

I'm too young to remember and was away at college at the time, but with so many large projects simultaneously going up now, are we now eclipsing the previous heyday of construction back in '04 to '07?

in terms of 500+' buildings, we're not quite at that level yet.

currently there are 8 500+' buildings U/C in chicago.

between 2007-2010, there were 17 500+' buildings completed in chicago. now, they weren't all U/C at the same time, but that 4 year span saw the greatest number of completed 500+' buildings of any 4 year span in the city's history.

each closed dot below represents a completed 500+' building in chicago, each open dot represents one that is currently U/C.
