1761 Wonderland Road North - 17s (Under Construction)

York has another high rise proposal for just north of Fanshawe Rd on Wonderland. They seem to have alot of projects on the table. I doubt we will see them exactly built in the short term. Most likely the time horizon is over a decade.

Planning committee report on this proposal by York. Number of concerns raised by planners which calls into question if this will get green light without changes.
The nearby cell towers and microwave tower is a concern.

I hope they are also going to build pedestrians, because there are next to none on that corridor of horror known as Wonderland Road.

With the subdivision going in just north of there I'm sure the city is planning to rebuild and widen Wonderland north of Fanshawe to 5 lanes with sidewalk and bike lane on the west side up to the roundabout at Sunningdale around year 2040.

York has cleared the site of the dirt piles and construction materials. Not sure this has got to planning committee or city council as of yet.

This is the architects website renders for the proposal.

Pile driving machine on site now. Looks like they have started pit excavation for underground parking.

Here is the architect site for renders.

^sort of run-of-the-mill (generic). All of these buildings going up lately seem to be cut from the same plans/renders.

This is so 20-10s/20-20s in terms of style but especially in terms of colour scheme. The fashion industry is not very original in the building design world. I guess it is cheaper to build cookie cutters in the sky.

Rendering from the website. This would be looking northwest from Fanshawe Park and Wonderland.

What's strange though is that I can't find any council document for the planning committee that indicates that the holding provisions can be removed (to permit construction) for this development. Yet, when I check the city's zoning map, there are no holding provisions for that parcel of land.

Edit: My mistake. Planning committee (and council) removed the holding provisions for this, back in January of this year. https://pub-london.escribemeetings.c...cumentId=88905

Ellis-Don signage now up on the construction fencing as excavation for underground parking pit well under way now along the south side of the site. Office trailers now onsite as well. ED will have additional concrete formers available soon as they are nearing top out on York's 13s at Springbank and Wonderland as well as their 17s next to Bostwick.

They have poured a section of the floating raft slab in the SE corner of pit now. Looks like the depth might be enough for 2 levels of underground parking.

Poured some more of the floating raft slab along south side. No signs of expanding the excavation for the remainder of the site. Would expect to see the heavy equipment still on site and dump trucks active but they are not onsite.

Excavator and dump trucks have returned to the site and they are now expanding the pit again.

They have excavated the SW wing of the pit and have started preparing for the footings.

No work being done on the site. The west end of the pit is filled with water.

All work on the site is still paused for some reason. Given EllisDon Forming is basically done their work at York's two other projects you would think some of those crews would be busy on this project now. Wonder why this isn't pushing ahead before the ground freezes to get the footings and foundation poured.
