As promised. Sorry about the beyond shoddy quality, it started raining heavily as I approached the site. This was the best I could do without getting totally drenched:

Lots of heavy equipment being set up to the right of this picture...

...some of which you can see here.

I'll get some more comprehensive shots (and hopefully aesthetically pleasing ones) next time I go back--which probably won't be for at least a week or so since I'm going out of town.

This site is huge--much larger than the pictures would lead you to believe. I don't know, looks promising, this site...

Hopefully, the tall one will be built first. That'll make Libeskind happy.

Thanks, Anton.
I almost can't believe what's going on in this town at the moment. It's almost too much to comprehend.

I can't remember the name of this building. Anyway, they started the cladding a while ago but suddenly decided to remove it again. The salmon coloured corners stayed though.
However, new glass is coming up now - pitch black. This will be an evil looking building.

A bunch of stuff to look at..

The Standard Chartered Building aka Ichito Tower

This office tower is going up close to my place. I have a great view of it from my window. Looks to be about 30 floors.

From my window

Went walking in the Century Park area of Pudong yesterday. It's a hive of constuction activity. Here are a few projects I saw:

I think 'The Cube' would be an apt name

This one looks average

This one looks like it may break the 150m mark

There were a lot more sites to check out, but I didn't want to get caught in subway rush hour hell.

Nice updates! I like that Cube building. Reminds me of something that actually could be built back home.

Does anyone know anything about this project?
I was browsing around in Copenhagen based architect firm BIG's website, and found it. It's called 'People's Building', and is supposed to be part of the World Expo in 2010.
I like the fact that it depicts the character 人 (ren = people), and the overall design.

On the website it says that it's status is 'ongoing', but I have no idea how to interpret that.

More info on www.big.dk.

^^ Wow, looks amazing. Although I wish there was more to the space around the building. Hopefully it's real but most likely is just an entry for a competition or something

Well, it's a damn fine entry if it is. I love the red peeps walking along the swiss cheese roof. Only in China would that actually be a possiblity.

It doesn't look safe. It's not realistic.

Yeah. Unless that thing has a wonkavator it seems unsafe for habitation, based on life-safety/escape routes.. by any standards... at the same time, some large swaths many floors high and wide have no windows whatsovever... this seems like a complete fantasy design to me.

I know. I was just having a little fun.

True about the elevators, Pan. I never thought about that.

Those who made the rendering probably started this little game. Unless the architects are totally crazy.

There are buildings with diagonal elevators. The Luxor Hotel in Vegas has what they call "inclinators" that travel diagonally along the corners of the building, so it is possible.

Old rendering, but more info is needed about it.

The tall building next to the Maxdo Center is supposedly the 290m tall TIPS China Building - but I have no idea about the status of this project.

The other tall building seen in the background looks like it's in or near Zhongshan Park - anyone got any info?

Xintiandi Phase III or IV. The tall white building will be Shui'on/ Rui'an Group's new Shanghai HQ according to YelloPerilo from ssc.

We need news about this project. The image is a little old, btw.

Another render of Infinite Tower, located in Xujiahui. Main piece of the masterplan by Agrest and Gandelsonas.

More info about this huge project here

Another issue: Bading Development Finance Mansion, 180m, 41 floors (Emporis) Does any body here know about this project? Render, location?

Do you have the link to these renderings, where you found them?
