The pilings drill is in place at Liberty Sky and drilling now. Tower 8/95 State is currently excavating the tops of the pilings they put in over the past months so they can, I assume, pour the base concrete pad.

I was just down around 7th east and the S-line. What a nice feel that adds to the neighborhoods along that route. It’s very pedestrian friendly and almost park like. I’d really like to see them expand the street car lines in a similar fashion where possible. Did that use an existing right of way or an old street? However it came together it’s a really nice bonus for the neighborhood.

The S-Line was an old railroad ROW, but you are exactly right in that the conditions that created the 'linear park' (as it is known in the biz') are not dependent on old railroad ROW's.

From a transit standpoint the S-Line Streetcar is really annoying, because it is one of the worst investments in actual public transit in the Salt Lake Valley while at the same time being the project that has translated into the most private investment. It sends the completely wrong message to decision makers about what sort of transit they should expand. That said, the S-Line trail and park are FANTASTIC, and I hope we see more projects them pop around the city (perhaps the Folsom trail?)

Love everything about this except that it’s a private social club for young professionals. This part of downtown is a dense urban neighborhood with all walks of life and ages. What about those of us who are no longer “young professionals”? They should be welcoming everyone rather than be so exclusive.

I'm sure they won't actually discriminate based on age. It's just their target market.

Yeah I'm sure anybody will be able to be a member. They're just tapping into an upcoming market in SLC. There's not a lot in the way of upscale nightlife in Salt Lake.

Question: how many projects (built and proposed) in SLC have the name Liberty in it?

I liked this shot. Also made me wonder what downtown will look like from this angle in a few years. Pull back some to encompass W. Temple, then add in more towers on Main along with the new towers lining State and West Temple. I'm excited to see what downtown Salt Lake looks like as the next Olympics rolls around.

Pretty dull design imo, but it is nice to see that area continue to get housing.

Liberty Sky was mentioned and there is one other that I am expecting within the next few years...

Liberty Heights at City Creek. This would be the tower to the East of Harmons. No, the name isn't real as it hasn't been named yet. But, since it is a partnership between CCR and Cowboy, I think that the odds are fairly good that it would be "Liberty (something) at City Creek". I think Liberty Heights just sounds good for that area.
