I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it. That's obviously done intentionally to be a 'conversation starter.'

You may not be aware that the developer has purchased additional acreage around them. They have some interesting intentions.

Additional hotels is a no-brainer. More interesting are the plans for a hockey rink, an amphitheatre, retail promenade etc. They're also considering a Five Flags but most intriguing is the parcel they've set aside to sell for a dollar to an Indian Tribe with plans of applying for a gaming license and hotel.

The very first photo shot is from Lake Banff in Alberta Canada, not the Maroon Bells/Lake!!! Granted it's still in the Rockies, but I know they thought they were putting a picture of the Maroon Bells in there.

Seriously bad editing

We talked about this a while back. But confirmed yesterday.

Some stupid school in Colorado Springs is getting a smaller 3,000 person hockey arena. And soccer.

2016-2017 NCAA D1 hockey attendance
4. Colorado Col. 100,097 total 16 games 6,256 avg

But apparently, CC averaged 4,300 last season. Still a bigger crowd than the new arena will hold.

Well, this is for a reason that actually makes sense. However, the city should have done a bit more to plan accordingly. The silver lining here is this doesn't impact ongoing "downtown" Westminster activities since that's south of 92nd ave.

Midtown Fort Collins Development

Here are a couple solid development proposals in Midtown Fort Collins:

On a lot currently occupied by a car dealership we have the Drake Redevelopment. This site is bound by College Ave, Drake Road, and the Mason Corridor will soon be home to 25,000 square feet of retail, a 100 room hotel, and 190 apartments.

At the South-West corner of College Ave and Prospect Road a hotel is proposed. This site is currently home to a Chuck E Cheese.

With CSU's new medical center across the street, this should make for an attractive gateway to Canvas Stadium.

Cool beans; nice renderings; thanks for the update; Fort Collins is still the best college town around.

Why is it so dang hard to build new, especially more affordable housing in metro Denver?

Morrison neighbors to fight already-approved housing development at ballot box amid land squeeze around Denver

Is it any surprise that investment capital, like water, finds the path of least resistance?

3 Valley cities each have 1,000-plus homes approved for construction
Aug 14, 2018 By Angela Gonzales – Phoenix Business Journal
Quote:
More than 11,000 single-family permits have been issued by municipalities throughout metro Phoenix during the first six months of the year, an increase of 18 percent from a year earlier.
This is kinda interesting and maybe a hopeful sign for Denver

Phoenix housing starts soar...
Aug 14, 2018 By Angela Gonzales – Phoenix Business Journal
Quote:
"We are aware that homebuilders in the metro area have been more willing to start spec inventory over the last several months," he said in the report. Brown said he sees several major builders opting for new subdivisions in more remote areas, where land prices are lower. He also expects to see more builders expanding their product offerings in an attempt to offset rising costs.
What is the mix and strategy?
Quote:
"Labor remains in short supply. We have some materials issues with more to come with the tariff debate that's going on. But the repositioning of the product mixes to include more low-priced products has been a major contributor to increased velocities. It has indeed brought new buyers into the marketplace that two years ago weren't even thinking about housing."
I still find it perplexing that more capital isn't going into at least some suburban affordable housing in metro Denver. I know there's plans but where's the hammers and saws?

So, Denver will be picking up another F500 HQ in 2020, thought it's just a relocation from Greenwood Village:

https://crej.com/news/newmont-mining-leaving-hq-space/

So, this marks two F500 companies coming back to Denver proper and recognizing that Greenwood Village is a cesspool of suburbanite drivel. Add in VF Corp and Gates and Denver's F500 listings grows to seven while the suburb's shrinks to five.

Isn't the Newmont move more semantics than anything? They're basically leaving one part of DTC for another, although I will admit the development adjacent to Belleview Station is making a real attempt at mixed use. The area surrounding Fiddler's Green is, IMO, a missed opportunity to create a similar district.

Pretty much, and same for the WU move. But, in terms of homerism and boasting, both of these relocation's brings these two companies back into the City and County of Denver fold.

Fiddler's Green and the Orchard Station are both failures due to city planning and local NIMBY-ism. Typical suburban mindsets.

You made me do it... and that's a good thing as things keep changing and I hadn't kept up.

Not sure I understand the Newmont move? Are they saving money?

2018 Colorado Fortune 500 companies
From the Top
  1. Arrow Electronics #113 - Centennial
  2. Davita #179 - Denver
  3. Dish Network #203 - DougCo
  4. Molson Coors Brewing #275 - Denver
  5. Ball Corp #277 - Broomfield
  6. Qurate Retail #288 - DougCo (formerly Liberty Interactive)
  7. DCP Midstream #344 - Denver
  8. Liberty Media #377 - DougCo
  9. Newmont Mining #385 - GV
  10. Western Union #494 - Denver
Had probably read but hadn't registered that that Coors is again a Colorado and Denver headquartered company. DCP is a reconstituted company that is new to the list. I wouldn't count on WU remaining a F500 company but Nemont can replace their Denver moniker. Add VFC of course for 2019.

I've certainly driven by that enough times. I assume you noticed the "public hearing for final development plan."

Here ya go: http://www.co.arapahoe.co.us/AgendaC..._03202018-1298
Quote:
Case No. P17-005, Highline Creek Estates / Final Development
Plan (FDP) – Kat Hammer, Planner, Public Works and
Development (PWD)

Scott Alpert, Alpert Homes, reported he had been working on this
project for three years and was excited to be here at this time. He
noted another nearby townhome project that he recently had
approved. He explained, originally, this property was planned to be
part of the townhome development, but decided the addition of
single-family homes would provide a good housing mix to meet
market demands.
Oh boy, I can smell the firewood already.
Quote:
He reported another home and firewood lot
currently on the property would be removed. Mr. Alpert showed
illustrations of the proposed Iliff Street frontage, after the homes
were built. He also showed a site plan of the development, noting
locations of greenbelt areas and a planned swimming pool.

Quote:
Ms. Rieck opened the hearing for public comment

Ed Jennings, on Yosemite Circle and President of the master HOA,
indicated the HOA was very happy to have this project going across
the street, noting that at present it was referred to as the woodpile
with rats

Kimco Planning $14.5M Revamp Of Aurora Shopping Center
August 16, 2018 by Margaret Jackson/Bisnow Denver
Quote:
Kimco Realty Corp. is planning a $14.5M redevelopment of its Village on the Park shopping center in Aurora.
How has the shopping been?
Quote:
“As longtime owners of Village on the Park, we want nothing more than to see the center and the surrounding area thrive,” Kimco Director of Real Estate Rick Turner said. As part of the redevelopment, Kimco will demolish and reconstruct the four currently vacant retail spaces south of Ross Dress for Less.
First Promise
Some day this parcel will be an RTD Hub of transit activity for the light rail along Parker Rd and along So. Havana St. as well as bus routes along Iliff and those that feed into this hub. Add some TOD and underground parking FTW.

Second Promise
It will be looong after I'm dead.
