This Central Park Tower banality should have been the height of the Hearst Tower, and the Hearst Tower and its magnificent shape should have been the one gracing the skyline at 1500 feet.
Also, and just as lamentful (maybe more), 432 Park Ave should be the height of the MoMA Tower, And the MoMA tower with its exquisite tapering shape should the gothic presence piercing out of the NYC skyline at 1400 feet, instead of that squat box of 432 Park Ave we actually got <sigh!>.
Afterthought towers with prominent heights and prominent towers with afterthought heights are the current reality of NYC's architectural ambitions.
