Detroit from a moving car

My friend Ben called me up today and asked if I felt like driving around the city while he checked out a funny sound his car was making. I grabbed my camera before we left and snapped a few shots on the ride. Some came out better than others, but here they are:

Thanks for looking

Thanks, man! I wish my friend's car was cleaner, there are a couple shots that I wish weren't through a dirty windshield.

Thanks for sharing the moment. I'm coming back to Detroit during the summer, we should hang out in the "Cass Corridor" as I understand it (which is awesomeness deluxe).

Not bad, considering they are taken from a driving car. And I agree, the first one is magic!

I like the first one, too. And the 4th, with the steam pipe & curved bridge (people mover bridge?). I often see scenes from the car that I want to capture & share with people. It is how we see much of the world.

That first shot is great. Having never been to Detroit, I've only seen the Renaissance Center from the perspective of countless skyline shots, thanks for the great street perspective. I have to say, though, it looks like just about the most uninviting corporate fortress one could possibly build. Not hard to imagine how Paul Verhoeven got the idea for OCP!

That is indeed the People Mover. I really enjoyed taking photos from the car, you get a lot of perspectives and angles you wouldn't see otherwise.

It does appear that way, but 99% of the foot traffic enters through the Atwater side rather than the Jefferson side.

There are a couple restaurants and some retail shops in that atrium. There are palm trees inside as well.

I like the GM tower. I've actually been to the top of it as well. It boasts some damn impressive views. Not to mention the windowed elevator ride to the top.
