Here is an update. Finally got the streets started, but there's much more to do. I think I'll draw the grid out in photoshop first.

This is downtown Otahita now. A few buildings have been edited, blocks remodeled, and some moved around. These textures were basically just slapped on these buildings. I'm finding it hard to find the right textures. The Big glass castle looking structure is called The Goliath Bank Center. Goliath Bank is a fantasy banking corp in the Otahita realm. It is one of Otahita's newwer buildings, built in the early 1990s, but was based on the deco/gothic style of Otahita's earlier days. Otahita Beach can be seen in the background. More info to come on these buildings.

Here is Otahita Beach up close. lots of tall buildings will be here. It will be very very dense with most buildings in the blocks touching. Resorts will go on the road bordering the beach, with their back halves taking advantage of the beach location with docks, pools and water parks hopefully all on the beach.

Otahita as seen from the ocean. It's not much to look at now, but there are big plans in Otahita's future.

(btw, the cranes are just for effect. I don't really make the models that way... or do i...?)

I suggest using more southern architecture. You really do not see any if at all art deco high-rise buildings in florida. Also, the buildings seem too big for the land that they are on. What I mean is try loosing some bulk off those art deco buildings. It a little un-realistic.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually rescaled the Sunshine State Building and the Otahita Tower recently to fit the blocks they were on more realistically. Before, they were on the very edge, but now there is about 30 feet in on both sides. I'm not changing their styles though because I really like deco.

Florida land is very thin, I realized that before I started Otahita, however these buildings have deep manmade bedrocks that can support the weight. Miami can support skyscrapers, so why shouldn't Otahita?

I am glad you all like the city so far. I do feel I have improved since I started.

Tanster, there will actually be a total of three high density-highrise areas: north of the creek (Downtown Otahita), south of the creek, and beachside (Otahita Beach).

Patrick, I do plan on making a supertall, but I have no idea what it will look like yet.

I will post image updates soon. I have modeled quite a bit of new buildings. Now, I could just upload a picture now, but I want to come up with names for the buildings first which also means some more fantasy companies. I want them to have some meaning behind them.

Lots of new buildings in Downtown Otahita!

This blue one here is Otahita's new tallest at ~900 ft to the top of antennas. Not including the antenna's height, it's still the tallest.

New towers have been added to the base of the Otahita Tower to enhance its design.

This is the Otahita City Hall and Clock Tower. The building design is Spanish.

Here is looking down towards the luxorious Knotley Hotel:

These new buildings don't have names yet, but I have started thinking of some company names. The white one in the front here has a good design I think.

A view of the skyline with beachside in the distance:

A view with edges and profiles enabled. The city looks really dense from this angle.

More soon to come!

Thank you fox.

This city is going to have a lot of ups and downs, but I will always try to improve on it no matter what its status. I'm going to worry less about buildings names and explaining every detail (I'll save that for the future). Below are some pics of the city after I made quite a few changes, like I said, there's too much to explain as to what I've done so I'm just gonna let the pictures explain.

Here is a cell-shaded look of Otahita. It looks a lot better this way since my texturing is not so good! (although its unrealistic). This look also makes the building designs more clear to see.

Here is the regular look. The city will get bigger and denser as it goes towards the middle.

Here is a fun image. This is the first pic of Otahita in an edited form to make it look better or different. I know it's not the best photoshop... the trees were added in to give it more of a Florida feel. Eventually I'll have trees in the actual city.

thanks for lookin!
