God I hope this gets built. Looks perfect for the area, with the Robie St. developments close by we could see a nice little Quinpool Rd. midtown start to appear

It is very nice, but the set backs feel unnecessary. High growth area that *needs* to be dense. Three towers, please!

Love this!
I'm having difficulty identifying this location on Quinpool.
Is this development intended for the green space between Quingate and Windsor?
The developer is promoting this location as downtown Halifax. Would locals consider this downtown?

Indeed, I believe this is making use of the green space that is currently vacant. Given that we have Quinpool Tower and the in-development Parklane on the other side, it's the only logical place this can go.

I'm guessing some street reconfiguration may occur behind Quinpool towards Windsor.

Re. downtown:

1.5km from City Hall (literal city centre). Feels like we should consider that as part of downtown, even if the density and services aren't built up to an appropriate level (yet)

It's funny how many people in Halifax consider 10km a long distance. I guess it's a combination of the geographically tight peninsula and the smaller population. 10km in a large metro like Toronto/Vancouver you are just barely out of downtown

In time ..

Yep, it's on the former St. Pats Highschool spot surrounded by Quinpool/Quingate/Windsor.

I wouldn't consider this downtown at all. I'm not even sure if there's really an "official" name for this area, I've always called it central Halifax/Quinpool.

RE: the Setbacks, one of the 29 storey towers is directly on Quinpool Rd, I find this a nice mix of heights. Taller would be better of course though!

This is what is considered the “West End”, being west of Robie St.

This rendering was posted in another thread a while back and I was also confused. The street running from the bottom center towards the middle/upper left of the image is Windsor St with Quinpool in the background.

This should become an even busier corridor in the future. It has SMU, Dal, the QEII site, and a lot of major residential projects like this one are being built. The municipal transit plan has this corridor running out to Lacewood presumably via Fairview.

Lots of change in the Quinpool area. Excited to see how this one and others in the vicinity turn out

Housing Accelerator Fund proposed changes for this stie;

Quote:
• This site is located in the Quinpool Centre, within walking distance to a future BRT stop at Quinpool and Robie that will provide access to 2 BRT lines.
• This site currently has two different FAR values, a higher FAR along Quinpool, and a lower FAR to the north of the site.
• The proposal is to have one FAR value apply to the entire site to make development easier.
• From a policy standpoint, this request is supported as the highest density in the Quinpool Centre should be concentrated at the Quinpool and Robie intersections, with FARs transitioning to lower values towards Oxford Street.
• Staff are therefore recommending the proposed increase in FAR but keeping the max. height at 90 m due to a potential impact on EHS helicopter paths
