This one is starting to have an impact on the neighbourhood.

I was walking down Monk Street yesterday and definitely got the sense of being in a downtown neighbourhood.

So glad to see a building with such an impact replacing surface parking and two smaller buildings in such a pivotal area for the city.

Picture from earlier this week. They're working on the 9th (top floor) right now.

I wish I had you as my neighbour during my undergrad days... would have saved my roommates and I lots of $$$ spent on Bylaw fines.

Here's a different perspective of the development.

and in the Glebe where every intensification project is bound to be rejected. A new building also went up at Bank and Fifth, not to this scale, but still intensification. There are also properties down at Glebe Avenue, Powell and Clemow that are perfect redevelopment opportunities, all which will make the Glebe commercial strip more viable and prosperous and without ruining the neighbourhood.

Yes can't ruin that single family suburb that exist behind this "main Street", where a 9 story building is "massive"

Also, this was taken to OMB by the GCA.

Was shorter before, as for the building looks good maybe it can set a precedence for the rest of bank south of the 417

I have zero issues with density along Banks Street. However, the area has become saturated with retirement homes. There should be by-laws in place to assure a proper mix of residential uses. It's a poor use of land across from an entertainment venue like Lansdowne. This area needs a nickname like... Geriatrics Row, or the Silver Mile.

I agree. Strange place for so many retirement residences so close to a sports and entertainment district.

I think that at least this one will have residents who are mobile and can get out and about, and a streetfront presence. The biggest fail is the Glebe Centre directly across the street from Lansdowne - how that was allowed to be built still boggles the mind.

By the way, the GCA negotiated an agreement with the developer of this one. That resulted in the shorter wing on the north side that abuts a number of townhouses.
