Part of the problem with the Kitchener skyline, besides other aspects of the built geography of Waterloo Region, is that most of the tall buildings have been built in lower parts of the city and surrounded by hills. It means that there are few good vantage points for the downtown area.
DTK (the tallest building under construction on the right) besides being the new tallest building in the region, is also built at a higher point than the rest of the downtown, and the difference in visibility is astonishing, you can see it from all over the region where the rest of downtown remains pretty much invisible.
There are a bunch of other new buildings under construction or planned that are similar in height to DTK, or taller, and one significant project, Station Park, is also at a higher point that will make it much more prominent, so it will be interesting to see how the skyline evolves over the next few years.
