Minneapolis to Denver the long way

This is my first thread of new material in three years. In September 2016 I took a road trip from Minneapolis to western South Dakota and then to Denver. Due to a series of small disasters I lost most of the first half of the photos I took and then the computer and software I needed to process them. Eventually I got a new computer and new processing software. I decided it was time to finally process the photos I took. What I lost was some rolling prairie and windmill shots of western Minnesota, the Mitchell Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, my first day in the Badlands, all of my Black Hills shots including a terrifyingly up close portrait of a bison in the wild, and most of my Rapid City shots. That said, I am happy with the shots I do have.

Minneapolis

The South Dakota Badlands

Art Alley, Rapid City, South Dakota

Near Farmingdale, South Dakota

Near Scenic, South Dakota

The South Dakota Badlands

Niobrara County, Wyoming

Laramie Peak, Wyoming

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Denver

Boulder

Near Nederland, Colorado

Denver

I feel high by just reading the title.

...and higher when seeing the first picture...

Welcome back Chef! I always enjoy your photos!
Sorry about your camera issues. I recently lost 3/4 of my photos from a trip out to Seattle/Portland and Olympic national park, so I can unfortunately relate.

Even though I lost those photos I still have a ton more to process. I have two years worth of Minneapolis photos to go through and also a trip to Savannah, so there will be more.

Great trip and great shots. So many similarities between the Denver and Minneapolis neighborhoods. I swear that one reminded me of Lake/Lyndale. I can't imagine living in the area of the Badlands. So desolate and stark. The cost of living must be pretty low.

nice. reminds me of my last surface trek to denver from st. louis...i had spent some time driving and camping the side roads of the high plains west of kansas city all the way to the front range before you drop a bit down to denver, and had found myself in red dirtstorms, herds of plains pronghorn, vast stretches of asian-steppe-like landscapes, abandoned ranches, photographed it all as much as i could. my camera memory died in kansas city on the way back, it's all a memory now.
