I wonder how long it will be until the construction fencing comes down? They must be getting close.

Carrabba's Italian Grill signage is now installed at the Hyatt Place Hotel.

Looking forward to trying this out when it opens this fall. Better than Olive Garden most people say.........

I was wondering if they would be installing some kind of covering on top of the light coloured steel structure at the entrance. If you're exiting your vehicle in front, it would protect you from the weather. Looks like that's exactly what they're doing today. Not much longer until this property is no longer a construction site!

Final signage is now up at the hotel. The exterior is virtually complete (except for the canopy over the main entrance).

Between this and the lighting scheme on the Avenir Centre, the corner of Highfield and Main is now Moncton's version of Times Square or Piccadilly Circus.

Now all we need is a big advertising screen mounted on the Crowne Plaza.

The glass panelling for the canopy over the main entrance into the hotel was being installed today.

AFAIK, this is the last external element to be completed at the hotel. The rest of the final fit up will all be internal.

And the construction fence around the Hyatt Place Hotel has now been removed.

This particular project specific thread is close to the end...........

Well, there's a brand new hotel on Highfield opening shortly, and right across the street from that, another hotel that has recently been gutted and rebuilt inside. Not sure why all the hate on this site for the poor Crowne just because it hasn't redone its cladding in recent years.
But I get your point.

It looks very nice, and it will likely do very good. With all the hotels around the downtown center now, it'll be interesting to see if the Junction Urban Village proceeds with building their hotel when the time comes.

Well, I didn't really mean to impugn the Hilton Garden Inn, or even the Crowne Plaza, but the Hyatt Place almost looks as if it were intended to be part of the downtown arena complex the way it sits next to the plaza in front of the Avenir Centre. Combine that with first rate amenities and the in-hotel Carrabba's restaurant, and that's a tough combination to beat.

The Hilton Garden Inn also is brand new, and just a short walk from the arena, and likely has superior parking (underground), so it is a worthy competitor. I fully realize that the Crowne Plaza has been newly renovated as well, but the dated exterior cladding is an issue and makes the hotel appear less attractive. In particular, the podium and the retail CRUs facing Main Street need to be completely redone to freshen up the appearance of this building. Of course, it could be that the Aquillini Group is holding off on any radical exterior refurbishment until they decide what to do with the entire block.

Nice looking hotel inside, but my gosh those ceilings are low, it's almost claustrophobic. First floor is fine, but the other 3... Even from the outside you look at it and you wonder, how thin are those floors anyway. I have no idea why they did that other than the cost aspect.

MonctonRad, it's all good. I too magine the Aquilini Group is indeed waiting for the right time to tackle the entire block. After all, they've already spent millions on the inside of the building. In the meantime I think many people are judging the book by its cover. PS I had the pleasure of eating at T-bones Restaurant in the Crowne a coupla years ago and it is worthy of consideration when in the area as well.

Here are a few more photos of the completed Hyatt Place (from the Rice Construction FB page)

Rear parking area.

Outside seating area for the coffee shop/breakfast bar. Interesting to see the seating arranged around a gas fire pit, and also lots of space heaters to extend the season.

Breakfast bar/coffee shop - which I see serves Starbucks!! Quite a surprise for a Corey Craig owned property.

Lobby lounge

Gymnasium

Pool

Typical hallway

BTW - The rumour is that Carrabba's Italian Grill will open around the end of October.

Driving west on Main, I quickly stopped to capture this angle. Can't wait till events are back in full swing at the Avenir C.
