I think they'd have to cut-and-cover the existing connector and make the park at-grade to really erase its presence.

The stitch, on the other hand, that's all below grade through there— I have higher hopes for that happening.

In the fantasy realm, they could fill the connector up with water and put a battery park with benches and shade trees overlooking the connector from the west side of Williams... That might be kinda cool. Maybe.

I would love to see the area between the old 85 and the new 85, going towards the Beltline, turned into a park someday. All the rock outcroppings and trees sure seem wasted out in the middle of the interstate.

I would also rather see Atlantic Station connected to midtown with a new elevated street grid, than see south midtown connected to Georgia Tech.

Okay, I'm done now- promise

Spring Quarter

Portman has acquired two additional parcels adjacent to Spring Quarter. According to the ABC article, they are still considering what the third phase will consist of. I noticed on the website they list 600 residences for the development (360 under construction) with no mention of the hotel.

$14.4 million for 0.41 acres. WOW! Have to be planning something substantial for the hotel or more apartments I’d think.

Please buy TBS and Adult Swim while you're at it. They look so bad.

That comes to ~$35M an acre, which surpasses the roughly $25M per acre the Rockefeller Group spent on the post office site.

County Assessor only had these properties appraised at about ~$600k each.

*edit* "these properties" refers to the two purchased by Portman

Is the hotel included in the current project phase? It's missing from the rendering.

From Portman’s past, I anticipate more office space. I'd prefer more residences.

Maybe the plots are for a shorter but wider hotel? Hope not...

The hotel is not in this phase. As I mentioned, this is the description the of the project on Portman's website with no mention of a hotel. Perhaps this means an additional 600 residences in the next phase.

That wouldn't justify spending $14.4 million for the land. Here is the massing of the 12-story hotel as was originally planned.

The office building is truly a bizarre design. It looks like the head of a character in an 8-bit video game. Will be interesting to see, for sure.

Check out renderings of Portman's new proposal in Dallas.

The scale of the project is very similar to Spring Quarter

400,000-square-foot office tower, 40,000 square feet of retail, two adjacent residential towers delivering 700 units. The anchor tower will incorporate 50 stories of office and luxury residential .
