"As proposed, the east tower contains approximately 537 apartments, 23,405 square feet of retail space, and 397 parking spaces; the west tower consists of approximately 516 apartments, 6,904 square feet of retail space, and an additional 33 parking spaces within the garage."

Man. 1053 apartments is a lot. I guess "walk east a block to work; walk west two blocks to Fulton Market and Randolph" is starting to be a pretty compelling sales pitch.

Awesome, will definitely add to the canyon effect on the expressway

1050 apts with approx 420 parking spaces. Not bad, but given the location I sort of wish the parking ratio were lower

They may not be gracing the cover of AR anytime soon, but hey, at least they'll help to further block and diminish the impact of presidential towers on skyline views from the south.

And considering they're all SCB towers, I'll take 2020s SCB over 1980s SCB anytime.

Should a new thread be made for this project?

Not thrilling design, but I will take it. This is blah, Presidential Towers are blah, but the different varieties of blah adds a little bit of interest maybe?

This plus the 47 story proposal at 605 W Washington will take out two of the 3 biggest surface lots in West Loop Gate and help canyonize the Kennedy.

The last (and biggest) of these is the lot bounded by Madison, Monroe, Des Plaines and the highway. Anyone heard anything about that one?

If these turn out as well as SCB's most recent Hyde Park Tower, I'll be very pleased.

Now say it with me: Cap. The. Kennedy.

^ Marquette's doing two buildings there at the same time, there's 1400 W Randolph next to La Luce and 1440 W Randolph on "Little Randolph" facing the park.

Agree. Would like to see more detailed renderings of course, but these are decent. And they obstruct some views of Presidential Towers as you say....huge plus.

I like an aggressive move here to convert what had likely long been presumed a future office site to residential. There's long been a contingent in planning circles (not that planning circles have any clout in Chicago - in broad terms much to our detriment as a city) who advocate for keeping as many of these sites within a handful of blocks of the commuter stations as possible reserved for office - as if Chicago is going to run out of attractive office sites for the future. That's always been such nonsense, as there have and always will be more potential redevelopment sites than those folks seem to imagine. Chicago is just not a city that's going to run out of attractive development sites in our lifetimes - or those of our great-great-great grandchildren.
