I personally wouldn't have a problem living in a narrow house so long as it's also deep--as was mentioned above, it's similar to a rowhouse layout. I guess it'd be a sticking point for some, but if the they're wall laid-out aside from that, it doesn't seem like a big deal.

Not particularly affordable. $400k to $500k. Floor areas range from 950 sqft to 1250 sqft. I know if I was spending 500k on a 1200 sqft unit this building would not be my first choice. So far four units are sold.

Pretty much everything at this size is, isn't it? A similar project in Toronto that looks similar.

My sister works in development in Calgary, and pretty much every six-storey and under condo is built similarly. (Which is probably why, for several years, Calgary has had at least one annual mega-fire that takes down an entire brand-new structure.)

I asked because I know the cookie-cutter 4-storey wonders in Russell Lake are now concrete structures, a step forward from the stick-built jobs that litter Highfield Park. I assumed anything new would be like that, especially from Polycorp.

It is. You can tell from Duff's first picture above where the window frame extends above the foam.

That's definitely not wood framing.

What retailer in their right mind would open a shop on Roberts St? Retailers have a hard enough time in this city on our main thoroughfares.

I won't bother copying the article now that The Chronicle Herald uses subscriptions for it online content but our friend Peter Polly was in the news today unveiling this project. According to his statements this building should be topped out by the end of the month and it should be inhabitable sometime in the Summer (2014).
