Last I heard (courtesy of Waye Mason) was that a new owner purchased it last year, and planned to renovate the interior before fixing the exterior--meaning it could be a few years before it's restored. I guess there's no actual solid plan in place. I don't know if anything has changed since then.
It's pretty lame the city can just let something like that happen. I don't even think staff they were aware when it happened (to be fair, it was a safety issue since the facade was crumbling). But I'd be FINE with the city assisting the property owner to fix the damn thing. It looks like a giant cinderblock as it is, and it was one of the most unique things in the city.
