Does that imply they expect to be finished with the glass by then? or is the crane not used for the glass?

Still confused about the north side of the W, I know Lenfest said cladding for the north wall was not in the budget. So a painted wall is what we will get..., the painting stopped months ago tho. In particular, I've been looking at the massive supertall, Vista Tower in Chicago, and how they continue the glass facade over large concrete potions (windowless areas) to create one seamless design...it is definitely more aesthetically pleasing. But budgets are budgets.

The rest of the building is looking great.

Painting is probably weather related. They might not want to stage swing scaffolding until they are more confident of having a week or two of 50+ degree days.

‪The W for @WHotels is in place at their Philly hotel at 15th and Chestnut. Soon you will know the name of the restaurant which will locate there. Bummer for me it’s a client’s so I can’t spill the beans. ‬#phillygossip #pccbuzz

Looks like the crown is painted, kinda like the ugly concrete vertical strip on the north side.

What's it made out of, and will it contrast the glass much? It's pissing me off a lot that the new phila buildings each seem to have contrast issues between their tops and bodies (FMC excepted).

It's not painted, it's dark metal cladding with grilles

Sorry for size, not my image

And here is what the tower will look like when the lights come on

They will be brighter than this, and yes they will have color too

The contrast problems on CTC seriously downgrade the building's aesthetic. But I'm not sure what you mean here. As far as I can tell, the glass on the crown is being placed on TOP of the black material. I see no contrast issues with this building.

EDIT: Never mind. From TK's render and comment, it looks like that may be the final aesthetic. DON'T LIKE. I never noticed that on earlier renders.

I think as long as it looks like it's clearly intended to be a different material, and there's details in it like the "fins" in that render, it will look OK.

Both CCs look crappy because their contrasting parts look like mistakes or simply lack of attention to detail rather than intentional design elements.

EDIT: if they used that same metal cladding with grills over the painted portion on the north side, it'd actually look great, because then it'd be fully integrated rather than just on the crown.

Sweet photo! But where is FMC hiding? I suppose the St. James is blocking it completely from that angle. And I'd expect the Cira to be there on the far right.

Believe it or not, FMC is out of frame to the left. I thought it would be closer to the cluster too, but it's not. You can see it on other images I posted today
