The darker pre-painted colour looks OK - it adds a bit of contrast and grounds the building a bit.

a bit of a risk putting the mens up there but they do have a lot of mens brands carried that are not available anywhere else so thats a good draw

-----

when is winter 2013? january-march period?

having read a press release at target - it says the store locations will be closed for 6 - 9 months for intensive renovations - so are the ones listed below closed yet or close to closing? the ones with winter openings seem to the the easiest ones to convert from my memory of shopping at them...

if so we will see a number of targets opening up in the area... a few others say they open Spring 2013 and some more in summer 2013

see all dates and locations here:
http://corporate.target.ca/m/company/our-stores

Richmond
Lansdowne Centre – opening winter 2013
Surrey
Surrey Place/Central City – opening winter 2013
Maple Ridge
Haney Place Mall – opening winter 2013
Chilliwack
Cottonwood Mall – opening winter 2013
Abbotsford
Abbotsford Power Centre – opening winter 2013
Burnaby
Metropolis at Metrotown – opening winter 2013

The new American Eagle is open in PC. Looks fairly nice. The old one is boarded up. Wonder what will replace it...

Thank you!

Thank you, Built Form, for your Bay rendering photos. We used them in our blog and credited you.

We got word this week that McQ Alexander McQueen and Hugo Boss Black Label will be carried in The Bay's the new 6th-floor men's store. We also heard they might carry Vince for men. Holt Renfrew won't be happy, given that its Vancouver location currently carries all three of these designers.

We also did a playful post about The Bay just for fun. Anyone remember The Chicken Lady? http://www.retail-insider.com/2012/0...dsons-bay.html

The Camper on Robson is also now open. Limited selection but the store is styled rather well with very cool light fixtures.

The 5 Guys website just lists the address for Vancouver House 605 Robson but they will be at 635 next to the alley as the Candy Aisle is moving next door.

Starbucks in the Sears rotunda is closing end of the month. It was a franchise agreement so unfortunately the employees cannot be transferred to other locations.

I found the dichotomy interesting on the front door. Store closing and we're hiring signs.

Saw that today - Probably to give Five Guys direct venting to the alley.
Looks like Candy Aisle is a lot shallower than the Federal office used to be, so Five Guys is probably taking the space behind Candy Aisle too.

that's their look, camper shoes are pretty boring but i love em been obsessed since 1999 with them, bought a pair at the bay once for like $300 - they are not cheap

the san francisco store was quite dark and moody but still sparse, but most of their newer stores are very white and minimal and odd one might say quirky or cutting edge

they use some interesting designers for the stores, i love the soho store and the one store in tokyo - very cool looking but maybe not everyone's taste

they have a camper hotel in berlin and a few other places

It's a subjective matter of taste and style. You are obviously not their target demographic.

To me they're quite refreshing and exactly what that area needs.

Agreed. A nice change from all the cookie cutter mega chain stores.

The Bay has mostly finished their 5th floor renos. Kitchenware and the new furniture department (which used to be the credit office) are done. Nice to see more windows exposed. The new Nespresso location at the top of the down escalators will open next month.
