Ok frig it.

I contacted Councillor Hum today and she gave me quite the detailed description of the hearing (apparently it got interesting).

The good news though is the DA was APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY

I forgot to mention this before but in the email Hum told me this;

Quote:
A large number of residents turned out, some expressing specific concerns. CCC chairperson Linda Mosher, as the local area councillor, after responding to questions/concerns of residents, put forward a friendly amendment to ensure a 50 ft buffer, but otherwise, was passed as recommended by staff.

.....................

The public hearing minutes will be available on-line come noon, Monday Sept 14th (our next meeting date).

Case 15976 Details

All of the proposed ammendments are non-substantive so it shouldn't have to go back through the public participation process. Here's the list of them, pay particular attention to the last one;

•minor changes to the road and driveway alignment, including elimination of the rear lane behind the townhouses;
•minor changes to the open space layout;
•population density allotment;
•layout and number of townhouses;
•detailed requirements for single family dwellings; and
•to allow for an increase in the height of two of the multiple-unit buildings from 10 to 12 storeys through non-substantive amendment.

This one seems like another "development of the ages", although I don't mind the idea of suburban development in this area. I'm guessing these will also be pretty visible from good vantage points on the Peninsula (like the Citadel).

The suburban highrise buildings really do make the city feel a lot larger.

Definitely, and I like the extra few floors... I hope the towers are visible as the Waterton(s)

It seems like a real sin that the North West Arm Drive route is being blocked by housing developments, although this project isn't in the way of the North West Arm Drive. This would still be a good route for a North West Arm crossing.

Its weird because as soon as the ammendments went before CCC the case file disappeared off of the HRM website and absolutely nothing has been mentioned by the developer or government on the project.

Yay... I'm super excited about this subdivision compared to any other. This is the last undeveloped strip in the area.

Anything happening with this development? Other than some markers put down seems to have completely dropped off the map.
