215 N Peoria, aka Fulton East, got its first new construction building permit yesterday for the foundation through 2nd level. I think it was being talked about recently but anyway it's on a vacant lot near the new Hoxton Hotel. I believe the height is to be 167 feet (i.e. standard 16 story building height).
I found it interesting there was an excavator sitting there... could mean nothing, but hopefully a sign they are getting ready to move some dirt in that big parcel for the two new towers.
Go out there and enjoy this summer everyone!

That looks like one of Rw Collins Co's excavators. They do a lot of tank removals in Chicagoland it's probably that
Really recommend checking out the channels other videos too, they are all about construction, urban development trends, large engineering projects etc.

Nice shot. I've been told the east elevation will be all curved glass. Looks like it's every bit of 40' tall. Will dethrone Apple's curved glass and will be one hell of an event space.

From the outside the design is pretty dam ugly. I wish the addition looked half as good as the apple store.
Parking garage at the corner of Wabash and Randolph is officially all closed up. Businesses have been gone for a few weeks, but chain-link fences just went up in front of the garage entrances/exit.
I despise the Realtor's Building. I hope we get a supertall in the parking lot behind it soon.
If NAR stuck with the original plan the realtor building would been demolished and we would of had a fairly tall building on the lot behind withe the Realor building location being a plaze leading into the supertall ala rockerfeller center... This would of been such a great unique opportunity for Chicago ..smh..another "what could of been"

Didn't Alderman Fuckdouche torpedo those plans?

I believe there was a bit of both sides with NAR not really having a fully thought out plan and public presentation for its proposal which just gave Reilly the "how dare they attitude" more motivation to make things difficult for them...I believe it was supposed to be a 90 plus story building too...damn i hate thinking back...i need to stop doing that and just think foward..lol

The Qdoba and nail salon facing Randolph only closed just last week, so not surprised it didn't get closed off completely until now

The Realtors Building is a classic example of a perfectly good building (in this case pure mid century modern) being fucked up by additions and crappy facade redos. They should have preserved it like it looked in The Bob Newhart Show...
