This project has been under construction for a good while now. It might not look like a big important project but it has one huge thing that downtown Phoenix needs: a grocery store. There will be an urban style Fry's store (known as Kroger to rest of you guys) at the base of the building with office space and residential above it. It will be built right across the Suns arena and convention center and will finally fill up a huge dirt lot that has been there forever.
Haven't ever been to Phoenix, but from what I can see, it seems the downtown isn't too large a destination usually? But with phoenix's weather, it is the perfect place for a vibrant downtown! This building seems to sew together what was a large gap in the fabric of the city. Hope more infill comes and phoenix can begin to soar, pun intended.
Phoenix isn't a place where alot of people hang out because we have lacked projects like this in the past and we have had little residential development in downtown. All of this is changing as you can see from the multiple projects going up and I don't think it will be long until Phoenix has a vibrant downtown.
