Yes, it's pretty much just you and Hunter. How can you not know that? We had this conversation here for a full year?
People here were talking about all the new projects... so it's a bit awkward to bring that topic up again. It's like a running gag.

Downtown ranks second in the nation when it comes to new home construction, job creation and a rising number of households.
Every new tower is increasing the construction in Downtown until another project is finished. There can't be a slow down.
There are even a few more projects breaking ground now, one next week.

Downtown looks like a single construction site, it's not beautiful, but I guess we can live with it.

PS:

I would be happy with 2-3 new tower every year, that would be insane for a site as small as Downtown.

Downtown had nothing for years, but that time is over. Some projects are late, like everywhere in the world, that's the nature of the business.

Ugh! I'd have to agree. It reminds me of the previous Wilshire Grand Hotel. Ugly AF.

Maybe the RRSB will come to the same demise that came to the WGH.

Update time!

There doesn't seem to be a good vantage point to shoot Oceanwide or Circa but here are the photos.

Whats the verdict so far on the broadway palace building? Is it looking as cheap as one can expect from Palmer?

Eh, I don't much care about this one. After all it's not an iconic intersection (cough, Park Fifth), or perched alongside the freeway in full view, or underutilizing it's location in general. It's standard infill that is at the very least respectful of its surroundings. If it brings more sets of feet to the neighborhood, isn't offensive, and spurs additional development, it's doing its job and receives a passing grade.

I saw it the other day in person and was amazed how good it looks. Big relief. Shockingly it does not look cheap at all, so far. I am excited for phase 2 to go up across from the Ace hotel.

If this is the ugliest building in the US, then you need to get out of the US. C'mon now.

That is a very good update Mojeda101.

Glad that you got the Onni Group location too. Looks like they are still very busy.

Well I do agree in name only. But the building is bad too.

Is the Whole Foods building completely occupied? The fact that I see only one balcony with a chair outside can probably signify how unnecessary and overrated balconies are for these downtown buildings.

Okay Brandon, it is ONE of THE UGLIEST BUILDINGS in the United States. I think I'll stay based on that note.

I think Palmer looks identical to all his other buildings, they just substituted red brick for mustard yellow stucco. I'll gladly wager it's the same architect he always uses. The recessed balconies, the arches on the top level, etc are his usual modus operandi. Hopefully it will have much better street interaction, that would be huge.

Mid-rise office building planned in Arts District

Nine-story building with 91,000 sq. ft. of office space and 6,100 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail. Case filing indicates that the developer is Lowe Enterprises.
