Too bad the city got outbid by the developer on this lot. There were some in the planning department who fought for a park but in the end we got a typical Toronto compromise: tower in a park. We will come to regret it 20-30 years from now.
This was one of the last lots right off Yonge (south of Bloor) where we could have built green space. In 2040 it will be desperately needed and Torontonians will scratch their heads that this opportunity was allowed to slip through our fingers. They'll say: what a fantastic amenity but what the hell is that tower doing there?
One only need look to the south and see what a fabulous thing Dundas Square is. That took vision, foresight, and persistence to make happen. In this case, all 3 were in short supply.
