I can think of a plethora of luxuries Idaho has Utah doesn't have. For example, just wait until your desert state drys out and those tiny creeks you call rivers are long gone and you need water from Idaho which we will not give you so you will have to visit to partake of our holy sacrament We will take care of you if you need a drink of Idaho water.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Well, Utah does have the biggest self contained water capturing basin in the Western world (hence the Great Salt Lake), so I think we'll be okay.

But, be that as it may, if water became scarce, I would prefer that my church just go back to using wine instead of filthy Snake River water.

Bear River Water and Wasatch Creek Water is the water of champions. Snake River Water is for LOooooooSERS!

Bear River flows into the skanky Salt Lake and it is so sad that is its doom after it flows through so much beauty in Idaho and ends up in a dead mud puddle.

The Snake is just one of many rivers, we have the most pristine wild rivers actually the most miles of pristine whitewater in the nation so remember if you need water then come up for a visit and we will be happy to get you wet. Proper communion is with wine anyways and we grow plenty of Idaho grapes that become fantastic wine, so we can take care of that for you too. Shouldn't we all love each other?

hmmmf. You so quickly dismiss our giant mud puddle, but if you looked closer, you would see it teeming with sea monkeys and carp. It's the true underdog. And though the process is subtle, the Great Salt Lake will always be there to carry on its great work manfully, unlike flash in the pan Boise State football.

utah is nice, but too much religious/culture influence and it stinks like shit in the summer
idaho is beautiful, great climate, but does lack some urban ammenities..
both lack the ocean...

idaho can build a research hospital..
but utah can't make the smell of shit go away..
so I'll stick with idaho..

So, ignoring the ocean...

Colorado:
Beautiful - check.
Moderate religious/cultural influence - check.
Research hospitals - check.
Great climate - check.
Urban amenities - check.
Doesn't smell like shit - check.

And that, gentlemen, is why we rule the Mountain West.

yeah, but idaho 6 hours drive from the ocean..not half the country away.. and it has low elevation areas less than 1000ft..not everything is 5000 ft above sea level or more. I hate nose bleed sections.. also half of colorado is flat and boring..they didn't take much time in making the borders.. they just scribbled a box shape and said.. blah.. that'll do
while colorado is a nice place.. it's overrated.. just like it's football programs

i consider idaho more northwest than mountain west anyway.. ya'll can have it

I'll put our Broncos against yours. I'll even loan you Orton for the game, how's that sound?

Come on Utah, argue with me. We have suburbs bigger than Boise, I need a worthy opponent.

Sorry bunt... But you did shoot yourself in the foot with that one.

That being said, Salt Lake County alone has double the population of Boise "metropolitan" (if one really wants to call it that). I had to drive north one day into Boise, saw a sign that read "Boise: 15 miles"... I looked around and was in the middle of nowhere. 15 miles south of Salt Lake and you're in Sandy.

They like to block the passing lane on Salt Lake freeways; They like to drive slower in the HOV lane than the speeds of the general travel lanes... And I know this because they LOVE their "famous potatoes" stamp on their license plates.

That Boise State education is doing them well. Seriously, cue the jug band.

Boise fans, I'm going to cover this one for you, because it too obvious. Also, I am not confident your geography is very strong, with that "education" of yours.

Yes yes, congratulations on having southern suburbs.

How about 15 miles west? Boise has got you beat.

I don't know what you're talking about... It's a beautiful stretch of scenic freeway, complete with a Kennecott tailings pond that when seagulls land on the water, they instantaneously self-combust into flames.

Tourists in Vegas pay good money to see that... We offer it for free.

And it's a phenomenon I've never seen in Idaho...

Do you guys have any pictures? I have to see this. I've never been to the Great Salt Lake. Nor have I ever googled it I guess. I always just pictured a scenic-ish lake on the edge of the mountains. Like Tahoe, only flatter and fewer trees maybe. Spontaneously combusting seabirds didn't figure into my imagination at all.

Sadly, no. It's an experience one can only have by simply visiting Salt Lake City and seeing it in person.

15 miles north of Salt Lake are suburbs.

15 miles east of Salt Lake are beautiful canyons.

15 miles south of Salt Lake, more suburbs.

But 15 miles west of Salt Lake is like an MGM Grand hotel show all seen through your car window. It's truly magical.

Beat that, Boise.

We kind of have the west mountains and a lake that gets in the way of development.
