I agree. Balconies are the worse imo when they're wrapped around a box. It leads to an uninteresting and boring design that makes it worse when people dump they're garbage on them. They can look like slums imo.
Probably the worst wrap around condo built recently (recently is what makes it terrible), i think it was built in 2008/07 is pulse condos @ Yonge/Finch. Cheap green glass, terrible podium, awkward positioning against YONGE street, short stubby height, TWIN towers, etc... doesn't get quite worse than this.

It looks slim from a distance (like from the CN tower), but I know what you mean, from it's east/west sides (like Charles St), it can appear bulky up close.

Casa II/III look like improved versions of Casa I, almost like it evolved on the design board, it just so happens the first iteration ended up being built, and they're building 2 design progressions afterwards. Real-life scale model studies I guess lol.

I don't mind balconies, they are not totally offensive, and are a practical way of getting more out of your units in the short summer and spring months.

Plus they count towards the buildings amenity space, a plus for developers.

I agree that II and III look better, at least judging from the renders. I was just using Casa the 1st as an example of wrap-around balconies ameliorating what would otherwise have been an anemic, textureless glass yawnfest.

No complaints there, the podium does indeed look very refined.

Yes I'd agree in Casa's case it's the main thing that gives the tower any real distinction. Well, that and the oversized hat.

That's a big hole....

Also, UT Reports that Cladding is going up on One Bloor. We will get to see if it's gonna be a dud or a star shortly....

The longer it takes for this one to finish up, the more I lose interest. I might in the slightest be looking forward to the steelframe mechanical levels, whenever they do get around to building that.

One Bloor is already so much more fascinating, we scored a big zero today with the cladding going up, and then being covered in tarp almost immediately, but we really have to wait for the balcony cladding to see how this one will hit the most important intersection in the city.

Peek-a-boo! I fooled YOU!

There is plenty going on at Aura. Buildings take longer when they get to the top

In the fall of last year, I predicted that Aura would topout in February.

Looks like I'm gonna be off by at least a month, most likely two.

Actually, only one more week of cold weather. And then first or second week of March the temperature will shoot up to 0 - or low singles on a consistent basis.
