You're surprised that an enormous co-living tower got delayed after Covid?
The typical
floorplan has "units" (bed/bath/closet only) grouped in clusters of 4 or 5 sharing a kitchen and living room. Multiply that cluster 6x on each floor.
If I was an investor in that tower, I'd be nervous about the feasibility in a generally affordable Chicago market - why would people choose to live there instead of getting their own place or choosing their own roommates? I'd be
really nervous after a virus has ravaged the population by spreading airborne between strangers.
We did see some excavation work happen last year, I assume that was just prep work or maybe intended as a vote of confidence by the developer, but it seems clear now that they were not prepared to fully start construction.
