I think they are "cashing in" on their brand. Tim Horton's was a default place a lot of people would go to or was the only option in some rural areas. Now they are playing the game of seeing how terrible their products can get before everybody abandons them in spite of the convenience.

It's a lot like the department stores that used to sell good quality items backed by unusually good return policies and then eventually transitioned to selling crap that was not consistently better than Wal-Mart but still 20% more expensive. No surprise those companies are all dead or dying.

It is hard for me to believe that there isn't a viable large-scale market for dependable quality in most of these areas. I think these trends have more to do with, say, corporate governance and shareholders than they do the consumers.

My lord I know, I cannot believe that people in the sidebar were excited.

It horrid but still 2nd place. You are too young to remember the late 70s when orange and grape flavoured potato chips were introduced. Needless to say they were very short lived.

Thankfully I wasn’t alive for such horrors (born early 80’s).

Fall means sweaters, flannels, pumpkin spice everything, and football. And, for those who aren't huge sports fans, football equals tailgate food like buffalo wings and all the dips. Tim Hortons, however, has decided to try their hand at combining two fall food favorites into one, and we don't know how to feel about it.

The Buffalo Latte—yes, as in buffalo sauce typically used with buffalo wings—is taking game day to a whole other level by adding spicy flavorings to your typical caffeine fix. And no, that's not pumpkin spice sprinkled on top of the whipped cream; it's more Buffalo seasoning.

The Canadian coffee chain announced the news via press release on Thursday, saying that the savory drink will appropriately be available only in Buffalo, New York, (home, as you know, to the buffalo chicken wing) for $2.79, according to People. The drink is made with "freshly brewed espresso, steamed milk, mocha, and bold Buffalo sauce flavor.”

Apparently this science experiment came to be because Tim Hortons and Buffalo sauce were both "born" in 1964, according to Fox. But hey, Lucky Charms was also created in 1964—no word on why Tim Hortons didn't go with a marshmallow-flavored latte with little hearts, charms, and horseshoe sprinkles instead.

If this speciality drink is not really your cup of tea (or, uh, coffee), other newly launched espresso drinks include caramel, vanilla, mocha, and pumpkin spice. But if you're headed to Buffalo, New York, might as well get the full buffalo-coffee experience, right? Just make sure you have some celery or blue cheese on hand to wash it down.

Actually now that I learned that this special Buffalo Latte made special by Buffalo seasoning is only available in Buffalo, I'm way less against the idea and even find it kind of cool (hard to believe Tim Hortons would do this: it's not the worst possible move in that kind of situation! Did they hire an outsider?)

Buffalo is the biggest market for Rimmy Ho's outside of Canada. I bet some of the Western NY locations are in the top 25 performers for the entire chain of almost 5,000 stores.

Those Calgary subdivisions are horrid. At least in my neighbourhood the houses are far enough apart that there is room for trees, and we have actual lawns in front of the houses. The island in my cul-de-sac has mature trees on it and resembles a mini forest. It's a great place for kids to play. In comparison, suburban Calgary just seems so wrong on so many levels. Definitely soul sucking. Maybe this explains why there is a subset of Calgarians who are alt right wing nuts - the blandness and complete lack of character of their neighbourhoods has destroyed their souls, leaving only an empty husk incapable of caring and compassion..........

Does anybody else hate the design and layout of Indigo stores as much as I do?

The shelves are way to tall and are arranged in some mazelike configuration which makes it impossible to find anything except for knick-knacks (which is annoying as it is supposed to be a bookstore). They are also way to dark. I always preferred Chapters as far as big-box-bookstores go as they actually sold books and were easier to navigate.

Yeah, that's what bugs me about Indigo. When I go to a book shop I want to purchase Books and not blankets, overpriced mugs, and other such useless paraphernalia.

Riiiight!?

Is the markup that good and sales so high to justify that junk instead of shelf space for thousands of more books

Let's put it this way - Chapters/Indigo is still a going concern in Canada while American counterparts like Barnes & Noble have long since kicked the can.

The other one then; what was it called again? Oh yeah, Borders

I thought Barnes & Noble was in trouble too. Didn't they close a number of stores??
