Byram

Hi, So i gave up on South Candor. It got too big, hated the name, and i had done the buildings wrong. Most were too narrow for their height and stuff like that so i started over on my second city. I made this blue tower first and this time i added individual floorplates. Its mixed use with two ground floor lobbies and entrances. office floors from the 2nd to 51st and Residential from the 52-103.

By scruffy88 at 2008-03-03

I made an inner core and elevator bank and left the rear of the tower open 'cause it looks cool to see 103 floors open like that. The top of the glass pyramid is 1202ft.

By scruffy88 at 2008-03-03

I made a to scale version of the Freedom Tower just for reference but i liked it so much that i kept it in the city. Its exactly to spec except that i took out the 200 foot bunker at the base and made the slant run flush to the ground level. It looks so much more slender and graceful that way

By scruffy88 at 2008-03-03

I changed the observation levels a little

By scruffy88 at 2008-03-03

And then from there I just kept going. I don't work on it every day, maybe twice. three times a week. i have been working on this one for about 2 months.

Her name is Byram.

I don't know how to do textures and honestly i'm not really interested in those yet. I really like playing with the transparency and making it look like glass. But i would like to do mirror type reflectiveness if anyone knows how to do that.

WOW! looks awesome! keep it up
please turn off profiles though just for the sake of detail

as for mirrored glass i think you can only do that with photoshop or a rendering program

I love it! Sligtly furturistic, simple yet balanced skyline. And I really love the Freedom Tower's spot in Byram!

Nice, I see the basic designs in your city. I used to do that and with details your buildings will look better than now.

I love your Freedom Tower, it fits well with it's surroundings bu that green building looks kinda funky. That's the only things I would change for now.

The city is beginning to have a really great skyline, it's very realistic. The shots from amongst the towers give a very good sense of scale.

I have to say my favorites are the freedom tower, the curved one next to it, and the one that kind of looks like the international finance centre in HK, with the slightly curved sides.

Wow, very impressive designs. I really like your version of the FT, and to see it like that makes me even more excited to see it in Manhattan. Keep up the good work.

I like it. It is very colorful, but the green building (the tallest one) thats out there by itself looks out of place. It would look better if you place some highrises around it (if you already plan to, then keep it up). Other than that, good job!

Thanks Dac, Neil. The Green one has a little bit of history. Its the second tallest in the city. It's built in the Old Town. The oldest part of the city where skyscrapers aren't built. Until this one rogue developer started building this one on the DL. By the time people noticed it was too late. A slew of height restrictions and zoning laws followed to halt over development in the Old Town. But before they went through the Chase Tower managed to get built, the blue one next to the green monster.

But Big Green or "Green Devil" as some call it is an asymetrical hexagon. It sits in a 3 acre plaza. It has 75 Floors including 4 at the top for Observation Decks and a nightclub.

It is 1144ft to the highest occupied floor. 1379ft to the top of the glass canopy. 1631 to the top of the twin spires. Because one of the hexagon points is hollow, there is a inner lobby reaching 1083 feet up.

the tower is 2.8 million sq feet

the view from the observation deck

That Skyline looks great. It reminds me of Chicago.
Can't believe the density, well done!

In this image there's a blue building with diamonds patterns at the lower-left corner. What does it look like up close? I like it from far away and I wanna see the building detailed.

I'm not sure I like "Green Giant" though. The design is not my style but I like the atrium. Really, really tall.

What I love about Byram is how realalistic it is, theres really nothing overboard about Byram, I love it, the Freedom Tower design works in fine with the skyline. I really like Big Green, and how it offsets the skyline.

thanks all. the thing with the green monster. I kinda like it all alone. reminds me of the Prudential and Hancock in Boston being so far removed from downtown. Design is not great, and a lot of Byramites hate it but its built so its a part of the city. Good with the bad. can't just demolish a supertall cause its ugly right.
