La Corte

Hey there peeps. I know I said I won't start a new city for a while, and I won't. This time it's for reals. Here's the story from the Seattle Times. It was too long so I just typed the basic stuff. Oh by the way I plan on suing cause some of the designs are mine!!!

Quote:
Seattle Times
Reporter: Alfred J. White
Mexico's "The Court"

Today the president of Mexico, president of Telmex, and assosiates from Pemex have announced that they will start construction on a new city in an island on the Pacific Ocean. The "Islas Margaritas" will house a new city called "La Corte" which will start construction in August, 22, 2007. It will compete with the city of Dubai, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other major cities around the world for economy, safety, ect.

This is what the part of the island where the city "La Corte" will be looks like.

What do you guy/gals think of this new plan? Will it be a Flip or Flop? Economic Wonder or another government scheme?

Not too sound rude, but Mexico is not a hot spot for economic dominance. i would suggest making the city elsewhere.

I know, but he asked for suggestions and I'm giving him one.

I personally think you should go back to Mexico City. You were doing a great job, and had some good designs going. But in the end it's up to you. If anything, I would suggest bringing those designs from Mexico City into this new one. It's seems a shame to abandon them.

That's what I'm doing but Mexico City was just something I didn't plan well. This is way different.
Oh, and I know Mexico is not an Economic Hot-spot like the U.S. but it does have a good economy in tourism which is what will bring most of the money to the city.
Trust me I think this will be better than Mexico City. I already have some stuff on the city and it's way more realistic than the other city I made.

I'm sure this will be a great city. Mexico City has proven your talent.

I cannot wait for an update.

Meh.. Mexico City was garbage(not the real city of course). This will be better here's my first update.
Aqua Marina. It be an artificial marina in the heart of the city. This area of the city is called The Fountain district because many buildings will have private "boat parking" beneath them.

The whole marina will be built in sections not just "pop" up out of nowhere.

The first two cranes delivered to the city are being used to remove dirt from the Aqua Marina
p.s. The marinas name is AQUA not AGUA

I like how your not just making buildings pop up. It makes it seem more realsitic. This reminds me of Dubai.

tip : make everything in seperate files , that way if you don't like where something is - move it

Oh, all my buildings are in "sections" so yeah they are all in different files. I'll probably explode one or two main buildings. and unlike Mexico City all buildings will have windows, doors, central cores, and floor plates.

Wow, you have quite the road ahead of you. Keep up on this one and don't give it up. I have a feeling you are going to make an amazing city.

This sounds like a very promising city. I'm glad I'm not the only one making one for realism now. I will be looking forward to first buildings.

O.K. peeps here is another update.
A view of the Aqua Marina from a section of Aqua Marina that hasn't been excavated yet.

An areal view of the city. That round "block" will be the home of the tallest building in Latin-America. The waterfront is going to be a park with two massive piers. One pier will house a theme park and the other will house the Corte Zoo, Museum of Architecture with a model of the city, the cities modern/classic art museum, an Imax theater, a park, and proposed are the symphony hall, children's museum, and space science center.

Should the last three be build on the pier or in another part of the city?
An advantage about building them all in the same place is that people don't have to drive to different places, which means less cars=less pollution.
A disadvantage is that not many areas will get an economic boost from the recreational centers.

Thanks, I thought that too. But I want to keep some of the things in the pier. I know for definite I'm keeping the zoo. Maybe the Children's Museum and the Symphony Hall but thats it. Is that an ok list?

Good News: Pier 1 has started. This is the pier than will house the theme-park.

The Aqua Marina has 1 section finished. As you can see the marina is divided into pieces. Each piece is being dug up by different teams. Now that the bridge is over in one side of the marina the other side can start.
