It's usually in or near towns that have OPP stations. Often in zones where the speed limit is reduced because you are going through a town. Matheson is a good example.

Many people in Timmins say Matheson and in the Temiskaming Shores area are the two areas to really watch your speed. Not so much between Cochrane and Hearst although it's not as though the police aren't there.

I've driven for many years on remote 80 km/h highways (101, 144 for example) and have never gotten stopped. I make sure to keep it just under 100 km/h. A few OPP officers I know have told me that they usually will only stop and ticket vehicles going 20 or more over when the maximum in 80. But they also said that the officer has the discretion to do it for a lower speed. I do know the rare occasion where a motorist was stopped and ticketed for driving 95 in an 80 zone near Chapleau on Hwy 129.

A touch higher? What does that mean?

Yeah, most cops know those highways are boring desolate drives, especially at 80 km/h. Keeping it a shade under 100 is usually good.

I once got the warning flash from the cops doing 105 in an 80 zone on Highway 144. Whoops.

Anything over 110 km/h will get attention. 115 km/h will be a roadside chat.

Two teens were throwing rocks from an overpass onto Highway 6 Hanlon Parkway, damaging 5 vehicles. Both have been arrested a while after.

Road Closures in North Eastern Ontario

As of 3 hours ago, Highway 144’s been closed between Highway 560 (Gogama) and Highway 101 (Timmins), again. The closure’s been on and off. Funny enough, nothing’s happened on either TCH branch yet.

I've had that happen a couple of times to me as well on the same highway.

You said you were doing 110 kph in those instances.

Hwy 144 is one of those roads that people fly on in my experience. To be fair, I've only driven it a handful of times, but generally speaking, at least once per trip someone overtakes me as if I'm moving backwards, and I'm generally not driving that slowly myself.

How can people even drive that recklessly when that road doesn’t even have shoulder...

Drive highway 144 at exactly at 80 km/h. Repeatedly. That will cure you.

Roads in North America are engineered with LOTS of forgiveness for inattention. Roads in other industrialized countries have nowhere near the same engineering.

Well I drive at whatever speed I feel safe at. I just need shoulders so I can pull over for faster drivers to go first.

Breaking News: 407W closed at Jane Street

I just saw it on the TV.

No wonder I saw a YVP cruiser responding with lights and sirens on 404S.

Long story short, a regular cannabis user got snitched on by his physician, lost his license, and had to fight to get it back. He also filed a complaint against his physician for this.

This is the kind of thing that encourages people to lie to their doctors. I can guarantee that after reading this, habitual marijuana users are going to start ticking "no" on medical forms.

Anyone got PDF’s for the upgrade of the RIRO section of 11? Thanks.

This is all I’ve been able to find: https://www.muskokaregion.com/news-s...-improvements/
